GTM HeroScape AoA Previews!

Any indication of whether the terrain pack is trees only or if it has actual tiles?

Everything I've seen seems to indicate no actual tiles. Why they are beginning the terrain system like this is anyone's guess.

The Jungle set without spiders wasn't really the type of concept that had me excited about the prospect of a terrain set, but I guess cheaper trees are ultimately a good thing for the community. :p (Assuming they're cheaper, of course).

I'd be down to just buy trees; that's what I did to finally own the Road to the Forgotten Forest set at a cheaper price.

 'It wasn't me Jandar; it was my twin sister! A clone--they made a clone! Yes, that's it. No, an evil magic spell. I wasn't myself, I tell you! No, don't put me in the Wellspring Water! (Dunked). Uh, where am I? What happened?'

I feel like I've seen this exact staement in a CoN game.

TL:DR The last thing I need is MORE of any terrain type, but I'm curious was it ever mentioned if the new stuff is backwarkwards compatible with the "ST:TOS" stuff ?

I am fascinated by the seeming lack of the ironclad collective and nemesis war brood. I had been assuming the master set would have representation from all factions, but perhaps these will occupy the "faction boxes" that have been discussed. I'll be curious to see how the remainder of the age of annihilation figures are rolled out as I assume it will be a bit before another master set or battle box rolls around...

If I remember right, the ironclad collective and nemesis war brood had less figures compared to the other factions, so I definitely see the faction boxes having roughly the same amount of figures to them. I wonder if they would go back to standard blister waves after all the AoA stuff is released.

Toa Matoro,

I'll be in a quandary about whether to buy the Master Set or wait for Faction Boxes, if they don't tell us their future plans for figure production! But who wants to wait another year?

cmgames,

Ha Ha! What's that from?

I'm reminded of the Smallville production mantra:

"No flights; no tights!"

The Incredibles is arguably the best superhero movie ever made. If you somehow haven't watched it yet, definitely rectify that.

Late to the party, but I am so hyped to see Evil Raelin on the front of the MS box! Of all the AoA units she was the one I was most excited for.

Would your concern be that faction boxes would repeat master set content? That seems like it would be an odd release strategy. While I obviously speak with 0 knowledge of the future, I would wonder if faction boxes would just be a set of figures pertaining to a single faction (I could see the 6-figure ironclad collective being a set for instance, as well as perhaps 6 random yet-unreleased clockwork combine figures as well)

Certainly understand the trepidation though. Hopefully some light will be shed on that today

Aside from that, are you sure they said nothing until next summer? I could have sworn quarter 4 of this year was mentioned for a second wave... now I need to see if I can track down that info

;) You're right, they did say Quarter 4. But since they also said they'd have a big presence at GenCon, I just assumed that would be their issue date, since it would make sense. The sooner the better, of course.

Chances are I'll get one of everything as it all comes out, especially since I host all of our monthly games. Although I may skip the Terrain Pack if its only foliage (which I suspect will work just like the old Palm Trees and Bushes).

For some more last minute purchasing thoughts and discussion before we see the Renegade show later today, see here in our old AOA section; on which more later after the reveals:

The current Renegade Con placeholder on youtube, which has the photos of both new game boxes, says its will be live at 5:00 PM, rather than 2:00 PM. Did they move the time?

No, West Coast bias did. Why did they give the time only in Pacific Time? To be charitable, maybe it was left out in online copying.

The ads I saw said PST, so they probably just expected people to use that to determine their time. It's not like giving both solves some "bias" issue since you would still have Central, Mountain, European countries, etc. Having to figure it out.

Maybe 'cause WotC was in Pacific Time zone? The time zone just kinda stuck to HeroScape?

Pre-orders were briefly up on Renegade, but with broken links.

Painted master set is $225, $125 unpainted.

Battle box was $65, $45, IIRC.

Jungles are $50 each.
