I must note that it's come to my attention that some maps did not meet the qualifications for the contest and thus are unable to win, and will have to be removed from the voting process. I will still have them in the front page for future viewing but they cannot receive any votes.

Full list of non-qualifying maps due to dimensions, including rotation:
  • Forgotten Thaw
  • Vitrify
  • Hidden
  • Resonance
  • Healing Roots
  • Brimstone
Not enough start zones & too many Field Sets:
  • Caldera Swamp
Two maps, while at first did not meet the qualifications as listed on VirtualScape, did in fact fit after they are rotated. (One of which was my map!)

Two maps pass dimensions test after rotating them:
  • Oasis No More
  • Tuff Tropics

I apologize for not noticing these issues earlier and addressing them prior to the submission window closing.

Second order of business, the winner of the community poll will win a Krug Mug!

? Glyphs represent recommended standard glyph placement.
Brandar represents recommended Treasure glyph placement.
If using LFoV, simply use the 3-hex lava field tiles in place of the 2+1 lava fields on level 3.

Fits within a 26"x 30" rectangular footprint when aligned with the diagonal of the rectangle.
I lack Laur Jungle parts for a truly accurate photograph. The two trees I used are from BftW. If using actual Laur Jungle (or Ticalla Jungle), use the two shorter trees, doesn't really matter which goes on which side.
My 2nd Entry

Cutaway view of the Cavern interior
Spoiler Alert!

Start zones are the back two hexes on left and right.

Additional information:
The water in the cave mirrors all asymmetries due to the structural pillars to keep the sides roughly the same. The cave is fully navigable by all AoA non-huge non-dual-hex figures except for the recessed ice tile on the top left, which a few can't quite fit into.

Everything out of the cave is mirror symmetry.
I really tried to make it fully symmetric, but it just wasn't doable to do that and still have the heavy wall of LoS blockers preventing falling from the top.
That said, in spite of it's unorthodox nature, it is designed to be a competitive map, with the extreme hight area blocked so so significantly from the cave below that the difference doesn't matter much. The glyph spot in the cave is behind the central support pillar so you can't even plink it from range/height outside the cave.
Technically the clearance is 8 (you're on top of a half-height ice/water layer, but since the overhead ceiling is hollow, height 8 figures like Irene fit just fine.
Q11, Sonlen (AoA) and Thyraxis Dragoon fit in the cave too!

I made a minor edit to the map. (V1.1) The Wellspring Water tile on which the glyph was originally placed is now just ice.

Dinky map comin' thru!
Hedge Maze
Requires: 1x AoA, 1x BftW, 1x GaLE, and two random glyphs.

I was trying to post a new map of mine, called Yellow Isle, but I'm still toying around with the aesthetics and haven't settled on it yet. So I'm going to submit my most recent upload, Hidden, as well as my favorite of the maps I've made so far this year, Resonance.

Hidden:

Does "limit of 2 terrain packs total" apply only to the Snow, Lava, Swamp, etc. expansions or is that meant to apply to the entire list?

Is there an overall limit for number of sets used?

Just to those 3 sets.

No overall limit

Any restriction against submitting existing maps?

No overall limit
For the sake of having an example, it looks to me like a map with the following components would be technically permitted:
>1x AoA
>1x BftW
>1x Lands
>1x Waters
>1x Jungle
>2x in any combination of Lava/Swamp/Snow
As long as it fits in the 26"x 30" footprint.
That's a huge hex budget.
Virtualscape hex limits for reference. With the one alignment, that's 17x16 hexes, and the other, 14x19
Spoiler Alert!

Yeah, I don't recommend doing that lol

For 3-hex ice, swamp water, and molten lava, what is the preferred approach for Virtualscape? I have Personal Tiles, but since you can't make liquid tiles in VS, they are level 1 and make the map render look funky. Is it preferred to do it this way, or to use more single-hex tiles which look proper in the render?

I just do three 1-hex tiles and leave it to the reader's imagination to figure out where they go. You have to mentally track how many 1-hex tiles vs 3-hex tiles you have.
