Dallas Area "Official" Tournament structure

We used to hold 3-5 events a year.

Not so much lately; our last 2 events have been NHSD October 2017 and NHSD October 2016.

That said, we have had a few other new comers to the scene. We will try to get something up for early 2018. (November and December are usually poor months for events since holidays and family and travel and what not, but we will pick it up in the new year.)

I've got six fellow students asking me when the next tournament will be, since most of them weren't aware of National HeroScape Day and would've loved to come. I'm confident that we can bring at least seven people in total (including me), although there are a few more fringe cases that might bring our total up as high as eleven new people. :)

Is it still looking like there'll be another tournament in the area relatively soon? And if so, will we be able to use C3V/SoV units this time? My groups have become quite fond of some of those designs and how they make things like Sudema infinitely more viable, so they'd love to hear that they can use all of that stuff in a more formal tournament.

I've actually been thinking of kicking off the next tournament thread now that we are past the holidays. I'll get with Mark and start posting something within the week.

We've used C3V/SoV/CUC in the past in some events. It's very possible that we'll use them in this coming event.

Alright, I'll keep an eye out for the next announcement and let them know. In the meantime, we'll just try to create a few vanilla, C3V/SoV, and CUC armies to test out for the upcoming event. Thanks for the response!

It just occurred to me that there was no NHSD 2018. That's a shame. Hope the tournament scene isn't officially dead in DFW.

There actually was a NHSD Tournament this year, back on October 20th. I'm also in the process of beginning monthly events on my campus, but so far it's mostly been informal scenario events to introduce new people to the game. Depending on how things go next semester, I could see about posting them here to see who else is interested.

It just occurred to me that tmac doesn't visit the forums much anymore and doesn't keep up with dallas/ft worth 'scape group. What a shame. I hope he still plays heroscape.

Is there a new thread? I check this one usually. Y'all have my phone number you know.

I believe that there are talks to have one at the end of April, although there are no specific details yet.

So is the April event happening?

Sorry, man. There was a family emergency that has really derailed the planning Mark and I were working on. Sadly, I didn't think to get this back on track while that was/is going on. I don't think I'll be able to organize a formal event before the college crew is out for the summer.

Alright. I hope all is well. I've got some college friends who will probably attend the next tournament.

Well it seems that Covid-19 isn't going anywhere so I don't see Hexes in Texas happening this year in the traditional format. Perhaps we do something instead like a zoom thing on the day it would have happened so everyone that might have attended will at least see one another? We might even get to see some familiar faces this way that have moved away in years past.

If there's some kind of a virtual event, then I'd definitely join and forward the word along to the others on my campus. It's a bit unfortunate; many of us are graduating this year, so I'm not sure where all everyone will be afterwards.

What about "Hexes in Texas: the Reunion!" a group video call where we invite all who have ever attended a Hexes in Texas event before. Just because we are social distancing doesn't mean we have to be socially distant.

I mean, assuming your gamestores are open with certain restrictions, and people are willing...you could still hold a tourney.

We started out Utah Monthly tournaments back up a couple months ago now that our gamestore is open again, but we're required to have no more than 16 attendees in our tourney and required to wear facemasks. We also have sanitizer etc for players to use.

With the right preparation/precautions, you could probably still hold an event.

Yeah, sorry. I was looking to set something up, but with the recent upticks in cases around town, it didn't seem like a good idea to host an event this year. But as soon as this thing clears, we'll look to organize an event.
