Comics: what are you currently reading?

Wow! Wow! What is this? I'll have to check it out!

I've got my own old Scape customs for many of the Legionnaires back on Page 5 of the Supers customs threads on my own such thread:

https://www.heroscapers.com/community/forumdisplay.php?f=33&prefixid=Array&order=desc&page=5

Back then I specialized on making my own cards for super teams. These LSH cards were done before C3G got around to doing any.

These are in print only versions except for some full graphics cards Sherman Davies made for me. About a dozen of these appear on my thread on one post as "expired" versions which are still legible.
Years ago, I purchased a ton of HeroClix on CoolStuffInc. Scooped up some LoSh figs including the Fateful Five both to collect and hoping for HS customs I need to check those out. Thanks. I hope you enjoy the YT channel as much as I have.

I've been listening and watching the podcast/YT channel, Flight Ringers.
Ha, think I just found me the new background music for my daily commute. Thanks for sharing! Love me some LoSH.
Excellent. I listen to the show as I work on my train graffiti books and navigate to see a page they're referencing.

I hope you both enjoy the channel. It's currently my favorite comic YT channel.

I recently finished Kazuo Umezu's Cat Eyed Boy, a character who is reminiscent of Umezu's Orochi and perhaps adolescent Hellboy. The complete series is compiled in two books.

Before summer began, Volume 1's longer form story, The Band of One Hundred Monsters left me unimpressed with the series (though the shorter tales The Immortal Man, The Ugly Demon, The Tsunami Summoners, and the The One-Legged Monster of Oudai were very impressive!)

So with some lackluster effort, I dug into book 2 during summer break. The first half of the volume concludes The Band of 100 Monsters and another longer form story, The Meatball Monster. Both tales meander and are directionless in a very long, drawn out manner. My hopes for Cat Eyed Boy's quality continued dwindling.

However! Volume 2's final five, shorter stories - The Thousand-Handed Demon, The Stair, The Promise, The Hand and The Friend - are incredibly memorable and invigorate what made Umezu so special to me in the first place. It was a strong finish to the series.

In finishing the books, I was finally able to watch without fear of spoilers (though I now realize in viewing, that the series is completely separate from the manga) on YouTube episodes of the 1976 series, Ghost Story: Cat Eyed Boy. The form of storytelling is compelling. Not animated, but rather puppetry of painted illustrations integrated with smoke, water, glittery reflected lighting and more. There were 26,15-minute episodes created and I've watched two 24-minute installments, so It's not clear to me how many original episodes that would be - probably four?

Along with my Renegade Heroscape purchases, UFO Mushroom Invasion by Shirakawa Marina arrives on Monday, August 26. Looking forward to receiving this obscure, horror manga translated to English. Having a flip through on Living the Line's website, the artwork sort of reminds me of Italian comic artist Magus with the shadowy areas and sharp inking. (testing out this new site's features - and the hyperlink doesn't seem to appear as different color, but rather slightly bolder font...? EDIT: ah, it's underlined when the reply is posted)

Also, here is a review video I created for Stairs, one of the short stories in Cat Eyed Boy volume 2:

My Living the Line-published, UFO Mushroom Invasion book arrived Friday, rather than Monday.
Devoured the book and reveled in the essays and cover/book gallery in the back. I hope there's more wacky Sci-Fi Shirakawa Marina horror translated to English for horror manga fans.
