C3G Modern Cosmic Marvel Workshop

Here is what I have for Bug right now:

NAME = BUG
SECRET IDENTITY = NONE
SPECIES = INSECTIVORID
UNIQUENESS = UNIQUE HERO
CLASS = ADVENTURER
PERSONALITY = CASANOVA
SIZE/HEIGHT = MEDIUM 5

LIFE = 4
MOVE = 5
RANGE = 4
ATTACK = 4
DEFENSE = 5
POINTS = ?

EXPERT CLIMBING
When counting spaces for Bugs' movement, elevation changes of up to 2 levels count as one space. You may ignore Bugs' height of 5 when climbing.

TIRELESS ASSAULT
After Bug attacks an adjacent figure with a normal attack, you may move Bug one additional space and attack one additional time.

COMBAT REFLEXES
When Bug rolls defense dice against a normal attack from an adjacent figure, one shield will block all damage. After rolling defense dice against any attack, you may immediately move Bug one space up to 6 levels up or down.

I ended up bumping his defense up to 5 after thinking about all the ranged and special attacks out there that will bypass defensive agility. he is a survivor that has taken on some incredible odds as a GotG so he should have a little better survivability then just 4 def/4 life. The Double Assault power will only kick in if he starts out with a melee attack but then if he destroys that target he can take a step and attack another figure adj. figure or throw his weapon for the second attack. Makes him a free flowing attacker when in the midst of a horde.

Glad to see Bug would fit right in with the rest of the rag-tag Guardians. No other Adventures. Don't know is 240 points is realistic for this design/character but it would give us a 1600 point GotG team.

Starlord 250
Groot 275
Rocket 175
Drax 350
Gamora 310
Bug 240?..........1600

The Spirit of Vengeance

This version of Ghost Rider, known as the Spirit of Vengeance, debuted in Guardians of the Galaxy, set in an alternate future of the Marvel Universe. He has the ability to traverse space and fire spike projectiles from his forearms. This Ghost Rider is a religious zealot, embittered toward a church (a version of the Universal Church of Truth) proclaiming it would produce its god in the flesh. That being, the Protege, is destroyed by the Celestial Scathan the Approver. This Ghost Rider refers to himself simply as the Spirit of Vengeance, although his real name is given as Autocylus, from the planet Sarka. After answering a distress call from Firelord, the Guardians of the Galaxy help a planet in peril, this Ghost Rider eventually helps to destroy the threat. The Spirit of Vengeance joins several other powerful beings including Martinex, Hollywood, Replica, Firelord, Phoenix IX and Mainframe. The heroes, rallied by Martinex, stay together as the new Galactic Guardians.

NAME = SPIRIT OF VENGEANCE

SECRET IDENTITY = WILEAYDUS AUTOLYCUS

SPECIES = DEMON
UNIQUENESS = UNIQUE HERO
CLASS = SPIRIT
PERSONALITY = ZEALOT

SIZE/HEIGHT = Medium 5

LIFE = 7

MOVE = 5
RANGE = 1
ATTACK = 6
DEFENSE = 7

POINTS = 380?

DEATH-CYCLE
Instead of taking a turn with Spirit of Vengeance, you may reveal an X Order Marker on this card. If there is a revealed X Order Marker on this card this figure receives the Flying special power, is considered Large regardless of what is listed on this card and if this figure begins its turn unengaged, he rolls two additional dice when attacking an adjacent figure normally. If this figure uses the Flying special power for its entire move you may move 4 additional spaces.

FIRES OF KAURI
Once per round, before making a normal attack, you may choose a figure within 2 clear sight spaces of Spirit of Vengeance and add one to this figure's range value for the duration of the turn. If the chosen figure is an Unique Hero and receives one or more wounds this turn, you may remove an Order Marker at random from the chosen figure's card. If the chosen figure was destroyed, you may choose an adjacent figure to receive an unblockable wound.

WRIST SPIKES SPECIAL ATTACK

Range 3. Attack 2.
Figures without Superstrength roll one fewer die when defending against this special attack. When attacking with Wrist Spikes Special Attack, Spirit of Vengeance may attack up to four times.

Seems like a fun character to me, I just can't recall if he has a mini or we would need to create on for him.

As for the card, I'm not sure how I feel about giving up his entire turn just to have him call up the cycle to ride on this next turn. Maybe just give up either his move or his attack to call in the cycle? The X reveal is a good mechanic to track whether or not he is on his cycle, but it conflicts with the X OM wanting to be on N'astirh (who has some light demon synergy). If the mini shows him on the cycle, I might just have him always riding the cycle all the time and use that card/design space for something else. Just give him flying and make him large all the time.

On the SA, I admit that I regret my part in YL Scarecrow ending up with the 4 attacks of 2 die SA. Rolling just 2 dice is so disappointing, especially as stat creep keeps pushing def. values up to 5 and now 6 def. for everyone. One of the reasons I think Dredd gets a bad rep is the 3 att. SA's being not powerful enough. Is there a thematic reason why you need 4 attacks per OM there? I'd rather see 2 att. of 4 then 4 att. of 2.

Have to review the comics for spikes. Those are really just for taking out squads.
He has no mini. The best option is a pricey GR mod.
Have to hack the chain off $12 mini.

If we wanted to put him on the Death Cycle, this surprisingly affordable Lobo mini is a great start. Could use the flames off the chains above perhaps to accent the cycle.

His power set would look a little different in this style. I would probably give him some sort of Charge power, maybe even a really powerful once per game power. He absolutely crushes Starhawk by impaling him with the Death-Cycle.

I don't know if I could cut up a $12 mini just from some flames or a skull head, but that Lobo mini as a base is definitely the route I would go. Just need to figure out a cheaper way to ghost rider it's look some.

I like your +2 att. dice charge power from the first power (reminds me of the charge power the Templar Knights had in classic), that would give him 8 att. die for his charge attack. An 8 skull roll should qualify as skewering Starhawk.

The Lobo figure is around $5 I believe. There is this GR for about a $1.
Maybe hack him off at the waist and swap with Lobo?

Yeah, I would try to cut up those flames from the bottom of the bike and add them to Lobo's in some way. Can't say for certain how it would fit together without having the minis in front of me but I'm sure it could be done in some way that looked cool. I might cut that gun off the back of the Lobo mini too, so adding some flames back there to cover that up might be a good idea.

Heh, never noticed the gun. :)

I will have to try to pick those up and see what can be done.

I would love to get SoV in a Cosmic wave.

Since we're mentioning future Ghost Riders, anyone considered Cosmic Ghost Rider (Frank Castle) from Thanos Wins?

The character sounds interesting to me so I've signed myself up to start collecting his solo series when it starts up, but I didn't get in on the Thanos run. Perhaps later this fall after I've had a chance to read several issues I may be inspired to try something. Having a mini is always a concern though so it may have to wait until they release on for him.

Probably worth waiting for the mini-series to be released before digging too far in.
A Ghost Rider with the Power Cosmic sounds formidable. :)
