It's open-ended (longer than a month ...). The pace of the event and its eventual termination will be dependent upon the level of participation; also, it depends on the results of each scenario. However, once one event ends another will begin.

I'm really just a straight Marvel guy, so if I spot opens up there I'll sign-up.

Yes, each scenario will be a "single game."
You don't have to do every battle but you do have to participate in at least 1 scenario in order to qualify for a team prize. Individuals on a losing team can still win an individual prize.
Events will be ongoing and scenarios will have sign-ups similar to playtesting. However, there will be a simplified battle report system, only one battle report will be required, and you can play on any map (home, online, or elsewhere).

Currently Marvel has 3 supporters, DC has 2, and Anti-Monitor has 2.
That means that Marvelis currently closed has 1 open spot, DC has 2 open spots, and Anti-Monitor has up to 2 open spots available.
