C3G Ally and Fan Rewards Thread

Scapemage

From less than zero to Hero!
Welcome to the C3G Ally and Fan Reward Thread!

What is this thread for?

C3G values public participation and rewards contribution via Reward Points. This thread details how to earn and spend reward points. It also serves as a list of contributors' points.

How do I earn Reward Points?

The easiest way to earn reward points is to playtest units. Visit the Playtesting Sign-Up thread for more information. Signing up for a playtest costs 1 Reward Point, but that point is returned upon playtest completion along with the following earned points:
• Completing a test by yourself awards 2 Reward Points.
• Completing a test with another person where they also submit at least 3 sentences on their thoughts on the unit earns you 2 Reward Points and the person who played against the test unit earns 1 Reward Point.
• Completing a test with another person where three games are played and both players play the test unit for at least one game and provide their thoughts on the design, they both get 2 Reward Points.

Points can also be earned by providing usable photos of miniatures. Check out the Mini Photo Depository for more information. Every time one of your photos is used, you will be awarded 1 Reward Point.

Reward points are not earned for completing playtests, providing mini photos or completing the card art for your own LDs.

Once you've earned some Reward Points, post in this thread in order to keep a running tally for yourself. The tallies for all Allies and fans are linked in the next post. Here is an example post:
Spoiler Alert!

What can I spend my Reward Points on?

Reward Points can be spent to turn one of your designs into a full-fledged C3G unit. Once you become recognized as a C3G Ally, you may spend 15 Reward Points (or 7 points for a design without a point cost) to begin a C3G design. To do so, post in this thread requesting to begin a design. Once the C3G Heroes approve, subtract your points from your tally and you are ready to go!

Re: C3G Ally Rewards Thread

You have at least 5 smart customs, one NM24 entry that is respectable, and 5 playtests, you have 15 points on the board. You can cash those points in anytime by starting your own custom thread in the appropriate "Books Of" Format, linking that thread to the Life Of thread, and posting in here that you are cashing in your points. Congrats!

NM 24 Bat Lantern

That's what I can find the links for

I'll just post new Playtests and Pics as I go along :)
You qualify for some points! Yay!

If you want to easily find the playtests that you helped out with on the Xmen set, just go to each books of thread and look at the bottom of the first post in each thread. There is a section called "Community Contributions", you can find links to all of the playtests there. Good Luck.

Great thread Griff.

Congrats and thanks go out to Sir Galahad for getting in and contributing so much and having a bunch of "banked" points. 8)

Congrats and thanks also goes out to Adam Souza for his many contributions. He's getting his points up there as well. :D

Re: C3G Ally Rewards Thread

I look forward to seeing you "cash in" on that, Sir G! :) I'm really optimistic about this new system.
I think we were at the point where we had so many awesome Allies contributing so much that we wanted to give you all the chance to design, but if we let you do it all at once, it'd be completely overwhelming. So we cooked up this "merit-based system" to not only encourage so more playtesting/photo taking to help the group as a whole but to help us choose a fair way to let more Allies initiate designs. :)

Re: C3G Ally Rewards Thread

what does it take to become a C3G ally?

Strong Will.
Intestinal Fortitude.
Selflessness.
Willingness to help the C3G Collective.
Too much Free time on your Hands.
Magic Powers wouldn't hurt.
Bribes in the form of small unmarked bills.

Oh, and you have to be nominated by a C3G hero :D

People who get nominated usually are the ones who are friendly, helpfull, offer constructive ideas, playtest, or help out it other ways.

Re: C3G Ally Rewards Thread

It also helps not to burn your bridges with the group in your first few posts. ;) Time heals all wounds though, so if you're serious enough, anything's possible.

???

EDIT: Remember a great man once said "Time heals all wounds"

Re: C3G Ally Rewards Thread

I went through the X-men playtests and put 3 points on the board for Ellak and Stubobj, and 9 points on the board for Adam Souza. Go Team!

Re: C3G Ally Rewards Thread

I went in and reset Mr. Galahad at 0, since he's cashed his points in. :-D

Re: C3G Ally Rewards Thread

Given time, I think you might be able to get a better idea of how collaborative design works and how to work well with others without coming off as demanding or a know-it-all.
Granted, Griff is still working on all of this ... :p (heh, you know I think you're awesome, Griff).

Re: C3G Ally Rewards Thread

I think what people don't "get" about Griff is he's kind of the "drill sergeant" of our group. He makes it a goal to "call people out" on things. Now, I'll admit, I don't feel he's always as tactful as he should be, and some of the more sensitive people on here are turned off by his approach at times. But he's certainly earned my respect with his contributions and knowledge of the game as well as his high standards for quality.
Now if he's going into your thread and dissing you on stuff, I agree that's out of line. But if you're someone from outside of C3G or even someone not that established or experienced in C3G and you offer a contribution that's less than savory in his eyes, I feel he has every right to call you out, because, let's be honest, we're all a bit territorial at times.
That said, I still advocate the use of the ignore function. I've saved myself so much bile and angst by ignoring the two people I have.

:end rant/hijack:

Re: C3G Ally Rewards Thread

My bridge is still burning.
I don't recall setting you off. If I did I'm sorry.

???

EDIT: Remember a great man once said "Time heals all wounds"

Yeah, but the thing to keep in mind is he didn't say how much time. ;)
If I angered anybody a few months back I take it all back and apologize. It's all a learning experience. People change.
Honestly, your contributions today, and your approach here in this discussion has really forced me to reevaluate you as a Heroscaper, and it has even humbled me to some degree. Seeing how much an individual can not only change, but also inspire change in others while changing the negative opinions and judgments of other members, I am impressed sir.

Re: C3G Ally Rewards Thread

That said, first impressions are powerful and don't wear off right away. :) I think I, like Griff, am certainly impressed with this attitude you're expressing and am open to allowing you to create a new impression in my mind. It won't happen overnight, though.

Re: C3G Ally Rewards Thread

I'm very glad to hear your acknowledgements.CMD is at a point where tasks toggle between our trio, so I have plenty of time to get myself involved here. I have already started commenting and playtesting and I hope your viewpoint about me changes. First impressions aren't always the best.
