Book: Inheritance Trilogy by Christopher Paolini - Book 3

I just got done reading Brisingr today.
I think overall it was a decent read. Paolini has matured as a writer quite a bit but I definately think that he over does some of his descriptions. And despite the fact that he is always bringing up the fact that there are limits to magic...there seems to be no limit to magic.
That aside, a good read, worth the time.

I just finished reading Brisingr today, and I have to say, that sword is seriously awesome. I was also wondering, what do you suppose the Menoa tree wanted?

I was also annoyed that he's continuing it in a 4th book! I wanted a final conclusion, and it felt like this entire book was setup.

I'm around 2/3rds of the way through and have found the book a bit hard to get through. Boring, long, dragged out parts seems to overshadow an othewise decent story. Too bad.

I finished Eragon and Eldest a few weeks ago and this was my take on it. It was decent, but he borrowed to much from Starwars and LOTR
Razac=Nazgul
Eragon=Luke Skywalker
Brom=Obi-Wan-Kenobi
Galbatorix=The Emperor
Murtagh=Darth Vader
Magic=Force
And so on. Eventually I got tired of all the "Oh, magic is powerful, it is everywhere, but if you use to much, you die." :roll:

I finished it. As usuall, Paolini continues the trend that was started in eldest, by making the story MORE of his own. I'm really glad that he is making the story less like LoTR and Star wars, and more of his own creation...Cant wait for book 4!

Personally, I think the books are great.

Murtagh=Darth Vader

I don't get it. Good Star Wars comparison though.

Also, magic and The Force are different-

Magic- Power from your body focused by using the Ancient Language. You overshoot, you die.
The Force- The living life force that surrounds all lving things, that a Jedi or Sith can focus. You can only use so much depending on how strong your connection to the force is.

Don't mean to sound like I'm trying to kill ABOMINATION's argument.

Just my :2cents:

what do you guys think the Vault of Souls is anyway? I think it might be a storage place for the dragons hearts...

The Vault of Souls along with what the Menoa tree took are both facinating. I would think that the Vault would hold Ormisis being and maybe he needs to contact him for something in book 4. Or perhaps Brom.

What the Menoa tree took is beyond me other than some of Eragons essence to create something? Whatever it was, he could feel it leaving him in the process. So it would be a part of him I'm guessing.

Galbatorix=The Emperor
Murtagh=Darth Vader
Actually, no. Galbatorix was Anakin/Vader. He was the young prodigy of the dragon riders/Jedi who betrayed and hunted them down almost to extinction and became a powerful bad guy.

Now I'm going to get myself out of this thread because I didn't finish the second book after getting bored halfway through and sick and tired of the blatant Star Wars/LotR ripoffs.

I think that it is one of two things:

1.) The Eldunari hoard of wild dragons. I think that this is less likely, however, than:

2.) The secret of how to extract energy from sources like fire. Oromis already stated that anyone who could do this would have nearly limitless power.

Just my quick :2cents:

That's kind of funny, because after reading the first half of LOTR, I got bored and stopped. That book was awful! :? On the other hand, the Eragon series is one of my favorites alltime. Though Brisingr wasn't as good as the first two, that's usally to be expected with the 3rd book in any series of four.

I'm pretty sure it's number 1. That would go right along with the rest of the story line.

I also find it interesting that the rasac said that galbotorix had nearly found "it" I think it might be the word for magic in the ancient language, or the vault of souls

I think that Galbotorix may have found the word for magic, or Eragons true name, possibly Saphiras.

I currently am on Brisingr, the third book. Also Eldest gets good if you keep reading! Trust me. I'm at a good part in it too, making it even better. :D

I just love this series! I already read books 1 and 2 twice, and brisingr once. I am actually going to reread brisingr in a few days.

Kinda changing the subject here, and maybe someone posted this before, but...I read on the Eragon website (I think) that the Author said the third book would be Green. Since the third book was actually Gold, I'm betting that the last one will be Green. Meaning, that there will be a Green dragon. presumably hatched from Galbatorix's final egg. Now, in the first book, it was revealed that Arya has Green Magic. Eragon's was blue, and so was his dragon. Oromis's was gold, and so was his dragon. I bet that Arya will be a rider, on the last dragon, which will be Green.

the rider will, I think, Roran. Runs in the family... and it would help give Roran a good sub-plot. What is he going to do when his wife is old and gray, and he's still young? And as far as I know, it has been confirmed the fourth book will be green covered.
