Used Betacron in a solo skirmish at 550 points. Been messing around with Sentinels of Jandar/Omnicron Sniper builds, and I like how Beta fits as a filler in that.

Beta, Concan, Snipers x2, Sentinels x2
Knights of Blackgaard, Vulcanmech Incendiborgs (also an army I've just wanted to use)

As a filler, he doesn't seem overly potent, but made up for the Jandar army being quite slow; even acting as a Sentry from the startzone! That may have been concerning if it weren't only a 25% chance to hit (and it would be less effective if I was being more patient and slow rolling with the Knights like I probably ought to have). He got one kill off with Sentry Mode before the whole Jandar army podded up around Concan and got surrounded by Knights of Blackgaard, preventing Sentry Mode from activating anymore. I was hoping a Deadly Shot from height while adjacent to Concan would be nice, but despite how much that took to set up he still whiffed!

Still ended up as a close game, with only 3 Knights of Blackgaard left standing.

He definitely feels to me like a filler for specific armies (in a good way), but that seems perfect for the 50's price range. I'm also curious how effective Sentry Mode feels into bonding melee armies or 2-figure melee squads. It's certainly an interesting thing to have to look out for!

I still don't get what the point of Omnicron Patrol is. Betacron is almost never worth running with the Cronroller because if you're running that army and you're 50 points under, you should always be picking an extra squad of repulsors instead. (Unless you're literally 1 figure under the given limit). Even on the extremely rare occasion that you run Betacron with Omegacron, Omegacron can just move Betacron himself with Omnicron Mobilisation. It's a functionally useless power.

That was part of why I didn't run him in an Omegacron army... the other part is that I don't have Omegacron.

And it works just fine with a sniper army, when your snipers are sometimes in position already and it makes sense to move the sentry into a better position (such as adjacent to Concan in the army I played).

Omnicron Patrol is very useful if you're running a non-Omegacron army with any omnicrons in it. (see Skywahle ^^ )

Or in an endgame where Omegacron is dead, but squads are still around which I feel is fairly common occurrence when I've played in games with Omegacron armies.

My agent build got smoked by a mixed Knights/Sniper build with Gilbert moving Soulborgs and Knights.

Betacron was especially wicked to me. Never took an order marker but moved up steadily with Omnicron Order Markers who were already in a position to attack.

Betacron went 2/3 on Sentry killing a Nakita Agent and putting the last wound on Agent T87.
