Best TOY collection......EVER.

At least he never has to buy Christmas presents when/if he has kids. The fish tanks as display cases is interesting.

What that collection makes you ask yourself is what has this over-the-top collector let slide to be able to own all that useless crap. Pretty sad, really.

Yeah, looking at his collection makes me feel cool.

I say kudos to him, if it makes him happy. Maybe he doesn't want a wife and kids to tie him down financially. Deciding against a family may enable him to afford that large of a collection.

He may also come from a great deal of wealth. If I had money to throw around, I wouldn't mind buying items from my childhood. Besides, look how much money many of us have spent on Heroscape. I'm sure there are many people who would call Heroscape useless crap.

God I love nerds. We obsess over our favorite toys, games, or comics, devote our lives to them, demand respect from those who look down on us, but as soon as someone comes along who doesn't like the same things we do, we tear into them with all the ferocity of a wolf with a load of wasps up its butt. Nice!

I'm ashamed to admit that I would totally do that if I had wads and wads of cash sitting around.

I don't buy much in the way of toys now, besides video games and board games, which I don't really think of as toys. I have a few small Star Wars things set up in my office, and a couple of those nifty DC Direct Batman and Superman figures, but not a big collection by any means.

I still own virtually every toy I had as a child though, so I guess you could say I have a big toy collection even though all that is in storage. If I have the room I should set up all my Masters of the Universe stuff someday. That would be awesome, for about a week, until I had to dust it.

Edit: I'm a little let down to see folks mock this guy. Sure, he's a bit over the top, but he's not hurting anybody. If this makes him happy, so be it.

The thing that gets me about that collection is not that there are that many action figures. I love action figures, and would love to own that many. And I would totally play with them.

No, the thing that gets me is that he's got them all properly stored and arrayed. And again, it's not the compulsion to display all those toys that gets me. If I had that many action figures, I would do that with mine.

However, I lack the ability to do what he's done. Not because I don't have the toys - I could buy toys. Not because I don't have time - I would find the time. I can't do what he's done because I don't have the storage.

How freaking gigantic is his house?

Aahhh that explains Wytefang's avatar.

Nah, my avatar was just hungry.

Furthermore, some things are just sad - it has nothing to do with whether we're in the same hobby or not. When you see that level of compulsive collecting, it's just rather frightening. And like I said, you have to wonder what this individual neglected (in time spent collecting let alone the money spent) to achieve this spectacularly ludicrous collection. I certainly won't argue about it being an impressive and thorough collection.

That's not a ludicrous collection, just a different one. I have hundreds of action figures, but I don't have room to display them all. I have so many board games, on the other hand, that I can't find room to store them all. I'm considering building an extra room on my house, and putting in built-in bookshelves that cover three walls, and I still won't have enough storage room. He likes action figures, so he collects them. I like games, so I collect them. He organizes better than I do, is all.

I am right there with you. I have a rented storage unit just to hold my action figures, comics and a large collection of fine art ... What can I say I am eclectic.

I had somewhere in the neighborhood of 1k of figures. I sold my Star Wars collection to a friend and sold my original Transformers, Spawn figures and a small assortment of other figures. The Star Wars were all sealed from the new Kenner release from 96 to 99. All my Spawn figures were the same and consisted of the 1st 7 waves plus specials. I just got tired of all the storage necessary. I still have about 300 figures maybe but i'm working w/ limited storage and may cull them down some again. I envy him for having the time, patients, anal-retentiveness to manage all those but at the same time i cry w/ the thought of all the unpacked figures he has(it's the collector in me). Everything has a value but for me it's more monitarty i suppose. Great Collection none-the-less and amazing armies of some of the figures.

it still sucks though,

hes missign Heroscape ;)

but still seeing all those Beast Wars was sad for me :(

DeadEye

Just seen this, I got into collecting action figures years ago, I just don't know what to do with them now. My collection is worth about 15K. Kind of wish I just bought more heroscape with that money. I ONLY have about 500 star wars action figures, 50+ vehichles and only about 300 Marvel figures. Most are in boxes. Maybe sell em on ebay one day.
