Belgor Ruins Map Contest!
If you frequent the Heroscape discord server you are possibly aware of my custom Belgor ruins walls expansion. These walls operate exactly like the Age of Annihilation walls from the Heroscape Haslab campaign. The only difference is I designed these walls from the ground up in my own style.
My hope is that this custom wall expansion can become a fixture within the thriving Heroscape community, but for that to happen, there needs to be maps! Which brings me to the following.....
Welcome to the Belgor Ruins Map Contest!
Contest Details:
Contest Timeline:
The deadline for submissions will be July 31st 11:59:59pm (MST). After which judging will commence. I will organize the maps by submission category and begin testing. I will play a 500 point game (using delta) on each competitive map, the scenario for each scenario submission, and will post a bracket style poll for the community picks. I expect this process to take a little time as I am the sole judge. My hope is to play on all maps and provide some feedback to all authors. Once judgment is complete and a Winners post is made and prizes doled out, I will work to compile all submissions into a PDF with build instructions and credits to all map authors. (I will do the photoshop fu necessary to make the custom ruins overlayed onto a virtualscape map.)
Building Requierments
Restrictions :NONE
And I mean NONE. As long as it is officially released terrain you may use it to build your map. You can even use the flat cardboard pieces from Arena of the Plainswalker. I like those and think they should be adopted into standard play.
The only rule for the maps is that it must include 1 or more sets of Belgor ruins the content of which is shown below. (or AoA lookalikes which are available on thingiverse or Castle walls constructed in a manner to mimic the effect of Belgor ruins.) I will take pictures of all maps as I build them with the Belgor ruins so the only thing you need to worry about is that I understand your build instructions. It is NOT required that you actually own any Belgor ruins or AoA walls to participate in the contest.
Yes this means that there are NO tile restrictions, however it may make sense to stick to other similar building rules for competitive map submissions. Such as 1 master set plus 2 terrain expansions not including the ruins. But this is NOT a hard and fast rule. You may build using ANY official Heroscape tiles + the Belgor Ruins
It’s also worth noting that things like Heat-of-Battle and Burnout are considered competitive game modes. Your competitive maps do not have to be a traditional “start zone on each side now charge and fight” kinda thing. It could even have some special rules attached to it. If it makes sense to use in a tournament then I will call it a competitive map.
Belgor Ruins Contents:
1 Core set Belgor Ruins:
8x Columns
8x Column Bases
2x Long Walls (These do not exist in AoA and are a creation of my own)
4x Medium Walls (The walls that sit between two hexes)
4x Small Walls (The short walls that connect two columns directly next to each other)
Note: A “Long wall” with columns on each end is the same as 3 columns in a row with short walls between them. If you have access to AoA walls without the long wall you can use this as a substitute.
Judgment Parameters:
Each Category will be judged with these aspects in mind:
Competitive:
Is the map balanced? Is the map reasonably buildable? Does the map feature the Belgor Ruins in a unique way? Are the components of the walls used to their full effect? Is the map visually appealing? Is the map Fun to play on?
Scenario:
Is the map buildable? Does the map feature the Belgor Ruins in a unique way? Are the special rules clear? Do the special rules interact with the ruins in a special way (not a requirement)? Is the scenario reasonably fair? Is the scenario fun and interesting?
Community choice:

Finally!
How to Enter!
Step 1: Build your map!!! Remember that you DON'T need to own these custom walls to participate. Do you own Tabletop Simulator? I created a workshop mod with my Belgor Ruins within it! Build your map there!
The steam page can be found here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2989887220
Step 2: Cartograph your map! You may use virtualscape and I can help you make a representation of where the walls should go. You may use Tabletop Simulator as that has my Belgor walls in it. You may even send me pictures of each layer separated. Whatever is gonna get the point across. I will do the heavy lifting as far as finalizing the instructions.
(Don't forget to include special rules and a story with your scenarios)
Step 3: Submit your map! Here is a link to a google form where contestants can submit their maps for review. Files should be in PDF form if possible but you may also upload several pictures or even a link to a workshop mod if you built your map in TTS. https://forms.gle/bXDRWm1fwVsmRU5SA
Step 4: PROFI...Wait! I know waiting sucks! But this is gonna be a big project and I want it to be good! I want a nifty little repository of fun maps made by the community that I can provide everyone so those who want these custom walls have plenty of content to use them with.
