The figures used for this unit are Pathfinder figure. The figures name are : Russian Soldier and Russian Machine Gunnerfrom the Reign of Winter set.

Vadim stopped himself, keeping an eye on the battlefield. Nina watched the treeline with binoculars, trying to spot their enemy through the fog in the overcast light.

"Do you think they've evacuated by now?" Nina asked.

Vadim looked back at the city on the hill behind them and grimaced. He then shut and locked the metal door to their pillbox, but his thoughts were occupied. Then the British and the Americans, and --

"I hope so. For their sake," Vadim managed to answer.

"Listen. I hear them."

Guttural voices from the trees. Vadim turned back to watch the distant line as wiry blue-and-brown shapes emerged. From their pillbox, Vadim and Nina looked at each other with the grim determination of comrades, veterans of two wars. Masks adjusted, grenades checked.

"One orc, one bullet, Vadim."

Then the valkyries, then the metal men, then the orcs, then the--

An arrow winged past the pillbox slot. Vadim barely flinched.

"Da. Just like Kovel."

"Well...not just like Kovel. We killed men there."

"We didn't kill men. Just Germans."

A small chuckle before the two comrades pulled the pins on their grenades, and threw them.

Gas Grenade Special Attack
Range 5. Lob 12. Attack 1.
Before attacking normally, one 12th Caucasus Rifle Soldier may choose a figure to attack with Gas Grenade Special Attack. No clear line of sight is needed. Any figures adjacent to the chosen figure are also affected by Gas Grenade Special Attack. Roll one attack die for all affected figures. If you roll a skull, all figures affected by Gas Grenade Special Attack subtract one from their defense dice for the entire turn. Each figure rolls defense dice separately. Gas Grenade Special Attack never affects destructable objects of 12th Caucasus Rifles.

Does the gas grenade thrower need to be activated? I think it is the case because it doesn't say any, it just says one. one of the Activated? Just checking. hard to lob from no direct line of sight and then fire.

It says before attacking, which I believe includes both members of the squad. If the soldier who threw the gas grenade is not in LOS, but the other soldier is, then the second soldier would be able to attack the target that is affected by the gas grenade.

The text transcript of the special ability does not match what's on the card. Here are the four differences I see:

Gas Grenade Special Attack

I believe @superfrog has answered this in the discord already, but for the sake of permanence- can one of the 12th be "targeted" with the grenade to splash adjacent enemy figures? I can see that they are immune to the effects of the grenade, just making sure they can still be utilized as a target for one.

nothing on the card says they cannot be targeted. Only says that they cannot be affected. I would say that you can target them.
