Re: The Book of Trigon - Breathing Period
NAME = TRIGON
SPECIES = DEMON UNIQUENESS = EVENT HERO CLASS = HELL LORD PERSONALITY = INFERNAL SIZE/HEIGHT = HUGE 8 LIFE = 9 MOVE = 5 RANGE = 6 ATTACK = 6 DEFENSE = 6 POINTS = 680 LEGIONS OF HELL After revealing an Order Marker on Trigon, instead of taking a turn with him, you may move up to X other Demon figures you control up to 5 spaces each, where X equals Trigon’s remaining Life. Figures moved this way will take any leaving engagement attacks. After moving a figure this way, you may destroy it. DEMONIC REALITY SHIFT Whenever another Demon figure you control is destroyed, before removing it from the battlefield, you may choose two figures within six clear sight spaces of Trigon. Trigon may be one of the chosen figures. Remove 1 Wound Marker from the card of one chosen figure and inflict it on the other chosen figure. CURSED BLOOD MAGIC Whenever Trigon receives one or more wounds from a normal attack from an opponent's figure that does not have the Magical Defense special power, after placing Wound Markers, roll one unblockable attack die against the attacking figure. MAGICAL DEFENSE When Trigon is attacked by an opponent's figure that does not have the Magical Defense special power, the most wounds Trigon can receive from this attack is one. SUPER STRENGTH C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book of Trigon - Breathing Period
Only one question. If you move 9 figures using the first power and multiples gang up around a single figure. Do you roll multiple unblockables against that figure?
Would I want it to be everything I love...sure...but that's just not realistic so I'm going to focus on finding things that will make me unhappy and work on fixing those. |

Re: The Book of Trigon - Breathing Period
Moving doesn't trigger any unblockables, it just triggers an opportunity to destroy the figures, which then would trigger unblockables.

Re: The Book of Trigon - Breathing Period
Yes Japes, as I read it it does. Max carnage in one round is him moving 9 zealots or demons adj. to multiple figures and blowing all 9 up. One at a time you would roll an unblockable vs. each figure adj. to the figure being blow up, so you could surround one single base figure with 6 figures on even ground and get 6 unblockables in total. Then he gets his one att. 6 at range 6.
I don't think that will happen very often though, maybe once every dozen games. The 6 space limitation means you can avoid getting surrounded by staying 6 or more spaces away. If you happen to be closer then that, chances are you've dealt a few wounds and not only does he move fewer figures, but he might opt for the healing instead of attack. Then it cost him the figure that blew up, so their is a limit on how many he can sacrifice during the game, and killing them first further limits their use. If he drafts him with 23 zaelots or demons, maybe 11 or 12 get to be used for unblockables, which would be 5-6 W's on average vs. heroes that are spread out. If you figures are bunched up to give multiple targets, then add another 3-4 W's. Some games will be better than others. At least that is how I think it will work out, will be something to keep an eye on in testing. Seems like a fun design Bats! Can you point me to the Zealots card concept? |

Re: The Book of Trigon - Breathing Period
Yeah, the potential for the crazy huge turn is there, but it looks pretty tough to pull off. If we end up needing to turn dials, my first step would be to try lowering moves: either reducing Trigon's Move number or only letting him move Demons/Zealots 3 spaces.
Also worth noting that as-written, the Demons/Zealots can get in each other's way and wound each other when you destroy them.... might be worth throwing a Demon immunity to the damage in DRS? The Blood Demons have that, so it'd be nice for consistency. That would make him slightly favor Demons (since they wouldn't be vulnerable to each other's wounds, but Zealots would be), but I think the Blood Demons could use the hand. Whenever we get around to the Zealots it'll be easier to not design them to totally supplant the Blood Demons if Trigon has some reason to want the Demons. |

Re: The Book of Trigon - Breathing Period
OYeah, I think the movement power will probably end up needing some dialing back, particularly if we want him landing around 600. But it's costly to make those big moves, so I'm happy waiting to see how it plays.
Legions of Hell should probably have an "up to X" instead of just "X" for perfect clarity. Is there a reason the Zealots are limited to common only but Demons aren't? Of the two, Demons feel like a riskier category to have open. JOHNNY139'S CLASSIC CUSTOM THREAD! | Visit now!

Re: The Book of Trigon - Breathing Period
I think the figure cost and the other aspects (YK laid it out nicely) will keep it balanced, but, yeah, as y'all note, lots of dials we can turn. I'm actually thinking already that it should probably be instead of taking a turn with Trigon rather than just instead of Moving.
Great points on Demon immunity, Ronin. I'm in favor of that update post-breathing period. We don't have to limit Zealots to common, we were just trying to nod to the design @Lord Venoc was working on (he's the one to ask about the Acolytes write up). Honestly, you'll probably want to destroy commons for unblockables a lot sooner than you'll want to destroy uniques anyway. For the record, I think the Blood Demons will be a natural fit here going forward regardless as Blood Curse makes it harder to just take the Blood Demons out to avoid wounds. With that, you'd probably just use Trigon to move the Blood Demons into engagement and lock down figures, rather than nuking them right away. C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book of Trigon - Breathing Period
Hah this is great. I wonder if his class shouldn't be "terrorist" with all the suicide bombers he employs.
He's pretty much just going to play in an army with just himself and a ton of Blood Demons. If your opponent can outlast the demon horde, then they'll probably overwhelm Trigon. Interesting playstyle. The huge turn is really the only concern. If that keeps slaughtering people, we could have a max cap (X=remaining life, to a max of 5?) or any of the other mentioned fixes. Real interested to see how he plays! ![]() |
