The Book of Throg
The Book of Throg C3G MARVEL WAVE 32 YEAR OF THE HERO ![]() Comic PDF ![]() Mini PDF The figure used for this unit is a Heroclix figure from the Mighty Thor set. Its model number and name are #033 / Throg. _________________________________________________________________ Character Bio - Simon Walterson (Named after creator Walter Simonson) was a college football player with a promising future. A severe knee injury ended his football career. He found a new reason for living in his wife and their charity work. That is until the death of his wife and their unborn child. Simon fell into a deep depression, and in an act of desperation he sought out mystics, medium, psychic, and fortune tellers trying to speak to his wife one last time. Simon finally found a witch with an authentic connection to the afterlife, and was able to speak with his wife and learn about their unborn child. Unfortunately, Simon was unable to pay the witch for her service, and as a punishment the witch cursed Simon to transform into a frog. Simon made his way to Central Park where he landed in the middle of a war between frogs and rats. He was saved by the other frogs who gave him the name "Puddlegulp." Soon another brave frog came upon them and defeated all the rats. When this noble frog left, Puddlegulp noticed some rats had survived and were following him. Puddlegulp had to warn the brave heroic frog. Puddlegulp discovered that the frog was, in fact, Thor, the god of thunder. His goats had arrived to take him back to Asgard. Puddlegulp was left alone when the rats came out of hiding. All he had to defend himself was a sliver of Thor's hammer (that was accidentally chipped off by one of Thor's goats). The sliver was heavy but Puddlegulp used all his might. When it struck the ground, he was transformed and was given the power of Thor. He now goes by the name of Throg.(From Marvel Fandom wiki & Comic Vine) _________________________________________________________________ -Rulings and Clarifications-

Re: The Book of Throg (Breathing Period)
So, for reference, our current "official" Pet Avengers are:
Lockjaw (155) Lockheed (60) Zabu (130) With two still "pending"- Redwing and Hairball, both of which kinda-sorta have figures. (There's a Falcon with a removable Redwing, and a Lockjaw/Hairball duo that you could clip him off of). There's also Ms. Lion, who is just a dog with no powers. None should be over 100 points, most more towards 50. In general, if we could get Throg between 150-200 (maybe ending in a 5 to mesh better with Lockjaw?) that would leave us in a good position for the last two to fill out a 600 point army. Of course, there's also Old Lace, who isn't an official member but will probably be fun to bring along anyways. JOHNNY139'S CLASSIC CUSTOM THREAD! | Visit now!

Re: The Book of Throg (Breathing Period)
Still super simple and I really like that here. A special attack and a leadership power. Nice.

Re: The Book of Throg (Breathing Period)
Ending in 5 is a good idea, maybe 135 to start? I also have write-ups for both Redwing and Hairball, but never could come up with anything I actually liked for Ms. Lion.
Just realized I don't have Super Strength on there, should he have Super Strength? EDIT: Also he's a Champion, do we want to leave it or switch to Companion? C3G: Books & Online Figure Request

Re: The Book of Throg (Breathing Period)
He should probably have Super Strength. He's got all the powers of Thor, after all. Just at frog-scale.
![]() I'd probably stick with Champion, too. The only synergy he'd receive is Lockjaw's teleport and he's one of the more mobile Pet Avengers, so it's not a huge loss. You'll be putting at least one OM per round so it's not like he won't have opportunities to move on his own. JOHNNY139'S CLASSIC CUSTOM THREAD! | Visit now!

Re: The Book of Throg (Breathing Period)
Would building an effective Pet Avengers force be problematic, given Lockheed and Zabu are fairly reliant on bonding powers with figures outside the Pet Avengers? I liked Zettian Juggernaut's idea of Throg somehow letting them use that with their fellow Pet Avengers - should make them more effective and give him more of a purpose.

Re: The Book of Throg (Breathing Period)
I don't know how you'd go about wording that, but I do like the idea of drafting Lockheed into the army and having one of the other Companions being ruled a Mutant Protector for his bonding.

Re: The Book of Throg (Breathing Period)
Maybe something like:
At the start of the game, when choosing a Unique Hero for a special power on a Companion card you control, you may choose Throg or any other Companion you control regardless of any other restrictions. The fact that all these powers are based on a 'choose a figure at the start of the game' mechanic is helpful - of course, Old Lace will still probably want Gert, but allowing this for Zabu and Lockheed (and, theoretically, Redwing and Hairball?) should make doing the Pet Avengers a tad more viable. |

Re: The Book of Throg (Breathing Period)
Really dislike that mechanic. I could see giving them some bonus for not choosing a Companion, if we feel the need to do something like that. Making them each other's pets feels like a pretty big theme reach, though.

Re: The Book of Throg (Breathing Period)
I'm not necessarily opposed to the power, but I think for one figure you pick either the statboost power or the bonding power.
