The figure used for this unit is a Heroclix figure. The figure name is Shang Chi #12 from the Avengers set.

Character Bio: Zhen Yuan has two fighting techniques at his disposal, making him a dynamic warrior. First is Eagle Claw, using animal instincts to take advantage of his opponent's weaknesses. Combine this with his Whirlwind Assault and sworn hatred for his enemies, the Japanese, it is easy to see why Utgar is glad to summon Zhen Yuan.

SWORN ENEMY
When attacking an opponent's Samurai or Ashigaru, Zhen Yuan rolls 1 additional attack die.

EAGLE CLAW
Before attacking with Zhen Yuan, you may choose an opponent's adjacent figure to attack with Eagle Claw. If the chosen figure receives one or more wounds from Zhen Yuan but is not destroyed, Zhen Yuan may attack the chosen figure one additional time. For the second attack, the chosen figure subtracts 1 from its defense dice for each wound received on the first attack. You may not use Whirlwind Assault if you chose a figure for Eagle Claw this turn.


WHIRLWIND ASSAULT
Zhen Yuan may attack any or all figures adjacent to him. Roll each attack separately.

So I can

1. "attack with Eagle Claw" before attacking normally, then
2. "attack with Eagle Claw" a second time (same figure) if there was a wound, then
3. attack normally with my normal attack (same or different figure)?

Or, is the Eagle Claw attack intended to be instead of the normal attack rather than before the normal attack?

I do wonder why this monk has this power? When to Samurai or Ashigaru grudges, Ninja's might fit this power? Why does Zhen Yuan hates Samurai or Ashigaru all a sudden?

I read the bio for Zhen Yuan, it seems that from what I can tell is that Zhen Yuan has a hatred towards Samurai or Ashigaru. The ninja's have a deep vendetta against Samurai Warlords. If your curious about this, then check youtube and search death battle: Ryu vs Strider.
