The Book of Thor (Jane Foster)
The Book of Thor (Jane Foster) C3G MARVEL WAVE 30 TOIL AND TROUBLE ![]() Comic PDF ![]() Mini PDF The figure used for this unit is a Heroclix figure from the Nick Fury Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. set. Its model number and name are #050 / Thor. _________________________________________________________________ Character Bio - When Thor Odinson dropped his hammer - no longer worthy of wielding it - a mysterious new figure arrived, Mjolnir in hand. This new Thor, goddess of thunder, was first met with suspicion in the halls of Asgard. However, having proved her valor and courage with true mastery of the hammer, she soon received the blessing of her predecessor. Unbeknownst to the world, the woman behind the mask is Jane Foster, Odinson's old flame and a mere human - whose every act of heroism only worsens the cancer afflicting her mortal frame. Re: The Book of Thor (Jane Foster) - Design Phase
NAME = THOR
SECRET IDENTITY = JANE FOSTER SPECIES = HUMAN UNIQUENESS = UNIQUE HERO CLASS = CHAMPION PERSONALITY = VALIANT SIZE/HEIGHT = MEDIUM 5 LIFE = 8 MOVE = 6 RANGE = 1 ATTACK = 8 DEFENSE = 8 POINTS = 430 MJOLNIR DISTRACTION Once per round, before moving with Thor, you may choose a non-adjacent figure within 4 clear sight spaces of Thor. For the remainder of the turn, Thor may not use the Flying special power or Mjolnir-Kinesis Special Attack and the chosen figure rolls two fewer defense dice when defending against Thor's normal attack. MJOLNIR-KINESIS SPECIAL ATTACK Range Special. Attack 4. Choose a figure within 4 clear sight spaces to attack. After attacking, if you rolled at least 2 skulls, you may choose another figure within 3 spaces of the space the previously attacked figure occupied when attack dice were rolled and attack the chosen figure. FAILING HEALTH At the end of each round, if Thor took a turn that round, place one Wound Marker on this card. SUPER STRENGTH FLYING

Re: The Book of Thor (Jane Foster) - Design Phase
I still miss Smite, but the case is closed on that one, so I won't harp on it. 100% happy with the overall package.
I would prefer a more unique name for Mjolnir II, though. Mighty Mjolnir? Mjolnir Mastery? Mjolnir-kinesis? JOHNNY139'S CLASSIC CUSTOM THREAD! | Visit now!

Hmm, I kind of like Mjolnir-Kinesis.

Quote:
Mjolnir Havoc? Theme question: Should she be able to use Mjolnir for distraction and for a special attack on the same turn? C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book of Thor (Jane Foster) - Design Phase
I mean, there's absolutely no reason to use the Distraction and the special attack, since it only works with normal attacks and you'd give up Flying for no benefit, but in theory I don't see an issue with her using it to distract someone and also smack them around.

That works for me.

Re: The Book of Thor (Jane Foster) - Design Phase
I'm really not liking Mjolnir Distraction. Seems like a one-hit kill on most figures with average Life and no special defensive powers.

Re: The Book of Thor (Jane Foster) - Design Phase
I really don't know anything about how this character other than Jane Foster now wields Mjolnir, can someone explain to me why she is as good or better then the real Thor? I get the idea that the magic hammer has boosted her up, but at the end of the day she is still a human civilian where Thor is an Asguardian warrior trained from birth how to fight. Shouldn't Thor have an edge when it comes to actual combat and durability due to his race and training?
If we were making a Jane Foster C3G card for her prior to this story line she would be a ~40 point figure where as the basic Asguardian Warrior comes in at 140 points. So Thor (430 points) - base Asguardian Warrior training & natural physical traits (140 points) = Power of Thor (290 points), thus Jane Foster base training and natural physical traits (~40 points) + Power of Thor (290 points) = Jane Foster Thor (~330 points). |

Re: The Book of Thor (Jane Foster) - Design Phase
Jane Thor explicitly has all the power of Thor on a physical basis, so I'd be pretty set on their stats being equal. Odinson is probably better trained, but Jane is also explicitly shown to be better at wielding Mjolnir, so I figure that's essentially a wash when it comes to the minor 7/8 Attack distinction.
The only practical difference between them is that Jane reverts when separated from the hammer and is dying of breast cancer, both of which make her a bit of a liability. So she should come in at slightly cheaper than Thor, which I hope Failing Health will do. JOHNNY139'S CLASSIC CUSTOM THREAD! | Visit now!

Re: The Book of Thor (Jane Foster) - Design Phase
As to being a lesser Thor-
I think I'd actually prefer Jane to regular Thor. In my estimation, most of the time Distraction is a better power than God of Thunder Strike since she's able to use it more than once per game and as Quozl stated, it's really going to put the hurt on mid-levels or lower. The special attacks are probably about equal... Thor's SA theoretically could affect more figures, but I think Jane's may be more effective a lot of the time, especially since she can "ping-pong" the attack between two figures and potentially hit them more than once. Obviously Thor's survivability is a bit better, but considering Jane's (in my estimation) better offensive capability, a 50/50 chance of taking a single wound once per round (and even then, only if she took a wound) doesn't seem like a steep price to pay. I may be overestimating the value of Distraction though, or (more likely) devaluing God of Thunder Strike. |
