Oklahoma NHSD 2014 - Rescheduled Nov 22

OK NHSD 2014
Lightweight Take 2

Discussion for this event begins at post #162.

Date:
22nd of November

Start time:
Noon

Location:
GameHQ
9118 S Western, Suite B
Oklahoma City, OK 73139

Armies:
For this event, each player will bring two armies of 300-points with no more than 16 figures. The two armies cannot share any figures or Army Cards. These will be the two armies you bring to every game. They should both be armies that you want to play and don't mind playing against. (C3V/SoV and Marvel allowed. Each army must have at least 250 points of figures that can be placed.)

I have a large VC collection. If you are interested in borrowing some VC units for your army, just let me know.
Reasonable proxies will also be permitted; just contact me or wbdhoc beforehand to confirm them.

Format:
  • Rolling Rumble. Players will be paired at the beginning of the event. As players finish their games they will be paired, based on record, with other players who have finished, so each game should be played to a reasonable conclusion. However, the Event Organizers may call a game at their discretion if it runs longer than a reasonable amount of time.
  • Before each game, both players roll the 20-sided die. The winner of the roll may choose one of their own armies or one of their opponent's armies. The player who rolled lower may then choose any of the other three armies.

Prizes:
We will have a side table--if you bring something for the side table, you will be able to take something home from the prize table.

Map Pool:
Will be some subset of these maps (we might not bring them all if attendance is low):

Marshian Crossing
Marr Highway
Remains of Clionesia
Mayberry
Cage Match
A Stone's Throw
Remnant
Embattled Fen
Fire Isles
Sirocco

Attending:
1. capsocrates
2. wbdhoc
3. caps' friend

Maybe Attending:
1. ??

Re: Oklahoma NHSD 2012?

I would love to attend a Heroscape tourney! I live in the metro area (Broken Arrow) so OKC would not be a problem. I would need as much advance notice as possible on a date so I can make arrangements to get off work since I work weekends. I may have a buddy who might be interested as well. Thanks!

Ah, I'll add the tentative date to the OP. National Heroscape Day is the 3rd Saturday in October, so we'd be looking at the 20th.

Glad to hear from you!

Re: Oklahoma NHSD 2012?

I would love to come if it were in OKC and not Tulsa. I can't guarantee that I can make it as I have a pretty busy schedule these days but I would try. If I can't, I know a number of people that play in Lawton that I would pass the word along to. The only thing is that they have monthly tournaments and usually have one on National Heroscape Day. However, if they knew there was going to be a statewide tournament, they might be willing to have theirs a different day and make yours. I will pass the word along.

I haven't seen any posts from demon_llama in his monthly tournament thread. Are they still playing? Thanks for communicating with them.

I am definitely leaning towards Oklahoma City (or Moore, or Norman, etc.) right now, since that's the most convenient place for the people I know and myself. Shawnee, OK would also work for me, since that's much closer to where I live and I know of a church room there that's very big that I think we could use for free.

Re: Oklahoma NHSD 2012?

My daughter and I would be interested in playing and we are from the Lawton/Ft.Sill area. I will let our local hosts know about this, we have a monthly tournamanet here and run anywhere up to 18 players (last month we had 10), and we get new players fairly often (last month we had 2 new players). We usually have a tournament on NHSD but who knows with advance notice and planning perhaps an agreement can be met. Also OKC would be easier for us but I will pass the info. along. Good Idea, and I assume the Marvel figures would be welcome.

Marvel figures would probably not be allowed, actually, I will add that to the OP.

Yes, I've seen his thread. He hasn't posted since last year sometime, so I wasn't sure if you guys were still doing it.

Re: Oklahoma NHSD 2012?

I just sent an e-mail to our local veneu and sent a facebook message to Demon_llama. However I might also add we typically only play official figures and don't use customs in our tournaments but I think it is worth discussing.

Mmhmm. C3V and SoV are a little different than most customs. They were designed explicitly to work with official figures in tournament or casual settings without breaking the game or making any major shifts in the metagame. Most of them are fun to use, but not so strong that they can consistently beat the best armies (Knights, 4th Mass, etc.). See the links in the OP to learn more.

But as I said, I'm not committed to using them and I would be fine without them if most people aren't comfortable with them.
