Exactly where in Ohio is Oberlin, and what feedback are you looking for?

Re: Oberlin Ohio tourny poll

According to googlemaps, it's about 40 hours east of me (or 45 minutes west of Cleveland, if that's easier to relate to ).

As far as planning, first pick an approximate date (within a month or so) and find a venue (be sure to find out what it takes to book it) then share your plan with the community, see what kind of attendence you'll get, then, if appropriate, lock down the date and venue and prepare to throw some dice.

There are a bunch of area Scapers. I bet one of them can give you some advice on how to set up an event.

When a local game shop unexpectedly closed we had to reschedule an event in the Baltimore area recently, and the library turned out to be a great location.

Also if you can get to an event before you host one it would make it a lot easier.

45 minutes west of Cleveland is something I can deal with.

colonel_homestar, I'd probably be willing to come to this. I'm gonna guess it's about a 2 hour drive for me, which I'm cool with.

Ohio has lots of tournaments, especially in Northeast Ohio. Here's a link to one that I'm holding in May, though the format is a bit unconventional. If you search the Event forum for threads started by me, you'll find all kinds of tournaments that I've ran in Northeast Ohio that should give you an idea of what it takes to run one, and also you can see who has posted in those threads to see who comes to them. I'd start by sending all of those guys Private Messages with a link to your thread once you've decided on the format and such. That's what I usually do to start.

Hope we can see you in May in Warren! Should be about 1 1/2 hours away from you.

EDIT: By the way, I voted for the Library. I think outside is a bad idea, and if you get the regulars for an Ohio tourney (about 15-20), your house might be a bad idea. I don't know what the Silos are. If you can find a FLGS or game store around you, that's probably the best bet.

Re: Oberlin Ohio tourny poll

Thanks for all the advice I really appreciate it. I was very surprised by how many people voted the OPL as the venue for the event. So far I've only needed help with getting a venue but if I think of anything else I'll prpably post something about it.

Re: Oberlin Ohio tourny poll

I would probably come if I could. Would need permission first. Anyways, what size army would we be using? And would you just be using the army you bring or what?

I've never been to a tournament before so i don't know for sure how it would be set up, but I'd like to come and give it a try.
