Star Wars Galactic Campaign

My son and I were reading through Skyknight's awesome Dungeon Crawl thread, and we were totally inspired! He decided he wanted to do the same thing, but with Star Wars. So off we went. I don't think ours will be nearly as grand as Skyknight's, but it should still be fun. There will be some house rules and custom extensions in this, I'm sure, to make it more entertaining and to have it fit the storyline. Like Skyknight, I decided to write the story myself, as we go along.

My son designed and built the first map all by himself, with a little help from his sister (he's 8, she's 5). I wrote the background based off his map...

Here's a top view of the map (click for a larger view on all of these):

Here's a closeup of the gorge outside Grievous's castle. Anyone falling into this will die for sure. And with Force Push powers at play, anything could happen!

Starting right next to the gorge is Strike Team Alpha, led by Obi-Wan Kenobi and Commander Cody. With them are 3 squads of 212th Battalion Clones, specialized for mountaineering and rocky terrain.

A little further away, behind an ancient ruined wall, is Strike Team Beta, led by Anakin Skywalker, his padawan Ahsoka Tano, and Captain Rex. Trusty R2-D2 is along in order to override the castle's security systems. With them are 3 squads 501st clones, loyal to Anakin. They are the precursors to the feared Vader's Legion...

Meanwhile, inside the castle are several squads of Battle Droids, Super Battle Droids, and MagnaGuard Bodyguard Droids.

The prisoners are in a pit cell inside the floor of the dark, damp castle:

Deep within the lair, Grievous has detected the approach of the Republic forces. Immediately after contacting his master, Grievous is in the process of receiving orders from Darth Sidious:

Coming up soon is a battle report and the outcome of the story. We're probably about a third of the way through the battle currently (had to take a break for trick-or-treating! ). Depending on the outcome, we'll come up with the next part. Should be fun!

Re: Star Wars Galactic Campaign

The figures are all from WotC's Star Wars Miniatures line (now discontinued). But you can still buy them pretty much anywhere that sells minis. The squads are usually very cheap - you can usually get several for $1. The heroes can get expensive, but it really depends on the specific figure. Some of them have several versions, and a lot of the time one will be cheaper than the rest. But they can range anywhere from $2-3 each up to $50-60 for some of the ultra-rare ones.

Re: Star Wars Galactic Campaign

Are the 212th Clones an actual WOTC figure, or did you paint them?

Those are actual WotC figures. I have a few SW minis I've repainted, but none are used in this battle. I may bring them out later at some point, though...

Re: Star Wars Galactic Campaign

I love how you did this. Me and my brother bought some of these about two months ago. We put them right in the middle of a battle with all of our official heroscape figures. It really added on to the game. If anyone is looking to get these cheap then try target. A target near me cant get rid of any so the mark them 50% off sometimes( they dont list them on the website). I bought a twelve dollar starterpack for five dollars.

Yeah, the boosters are like 6-8 bucks for 7 figures and you can get some with Massive figures (like the Rancor) for 9 bucks.

Now through May 28th, the Louisville region is in desperate need of platelets - call the Red Cross if you are interested in donating!

Re: Star Wars Galactic Campaign

Holy cow, this is seriously breaking down my defenses. I don't have a strong comics background in my upbringing, but Star Wars was a major part of my teens (I was around 14 at the time when the original came out).

And you have a HUGE index of customs. Must... resist... power... of... the... Force... Aaaaaaaagh!!!

Incredible map as well. (sigh) I guess I'll start work on the downloads soon and scout my options for either proxies or the full-blown minis. (sniffle) Must... replace... normal... diet... with... Ramen... to... pay... for... minis. (sob) Still... have... a... pint... of... blood... left... to... sell...
