Helm's Deep Attempt
Before I begin, I want to let you know that this is my first map thread. I have read the image posting directions many times over, and everything looks in place, but if there is a problem, please let me know as soon as possible.
Here is my first hack at Helm's Deep, from Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. I used pretty much every tile I could find on this one, which amounts to: 9 RotV sets 3 Sotm sets (to add height) 5 castle sets 6 Road sets 1 tundra set 1 lava set (to add height) and roughly 100 extra booster tiles If these pics are too small, I think I linked each one to a larger version. ![]() Here is a front look at the fortress. ![]() This angle was taken from inside the fortress, looking out at the incoming fortress. ![]() Here is a look at thProxy-Connection: keep-alive Cache-Control: max-age=0 20soldiers and elves stationed along the long wall into the mountainside. ![]() This picture shows the various pathways found within the fortress, as well as the gates leading to the keep. ![]() Here is a look at the tower, as well as the sewer behind the wall. ![]() Here is the gates leading up to the keep. ![]() Here is an overhead look at the keep, with the crystal cave in the back. ![]() Here is an overhead look at the various bridges and walkways making up the fortress. ![]() Here is the overhead look at the entire map. ![]() Here is a good look at the causeway leading up to the front gate. I hope you enjoyed these photos. This certainly isn't the best Helm's Deep impression, but I think it is a cool map. It was a ton of fun to build and was too cool looking in my opinion not to share. Pleas let me know if any image problems exist. I am not 100% sure tha Last edited by Darth Vader; April 26th, 2010 at 10:54 PM. |

Re: Helm's Deep Attempt
You may want to add some more water to emphasize the river weak spot, but otherwise, its awesome.

Re: Helm's Deep Attempt
Thanks a lot guys.
My map is gone now, but I have the full intention of rebuilding it when time permits. I was thinking about adding more of a river, but by the time I figured out how to, I was out of terrain. |

Re: Helm's Deep Attempt
Still not enough in my opinion. We jump on any castle set for sale. My next hack at Helm's Deep should be even bigger, if I can make more building space in my room.

Re: Helm's Deep Attempt
Wow, I almost forgot about this project. That was probably one of the funnest maps I ever worked on. Since I just found out my FLGS has castle sets in stock for dirt cheap, I'll probably pick up a few more and make a bigger version of the keep at some point.

Re: Helm's Deep Attempt
Great map. Did you use custom stats for the heroes, or just "official" ones that resembled the characters?
