Need Help - Uneven # of players
We have our monthly Heroscape game planned tomorrow and we'll end up with 5 players total.
Assuming terrain is equal, what are balanced army sizes for 3 vs 2 players and for 2 vs 1 players. For example, in a 3 vs 2 player game, if each of the 3 player team has a 500 pt army, how many points should each of the 2 player team get to balance out the disparity in order markers? Any help is appreciated. Thanks |

Re: Need Help - Uneven # of players
I would say that around 800 points for each member of the 2-person team would be about right.
Your curiosity will be the death of you....

Re: Need Help - Uneven # of players
Depending on army sizes, the smaller team should have around 200 - 300 points more, I'd say, if you're doing turns the standard way.
Or you could come up with your own system for turns that makes things a little more even. For instance, you could rule that the team of 2 gets to take as many turns as the 3 team, where one player would get to take 2 rounds' worth of turns, alternating between them every round. |

You could give the team of 2 a third army for them to control, making a 3v3 match.

I have to agree that one person puppeting a second army would work. I have done this with my group before.

You don't really need to make teams. A free-for-all would work just as well.

Re: Need Help - Uneven # of players
Who is in your monthly game PJKeller?
I've been trying to get more people to play at blue dragon every month... One way to balance a 3v2 is to have one of the 2 players, play with 2 armies/sets of order markers. Or to have the two in that team take turns being the 3rd player. And to keep from forgetting wich figure is who's you could toss in a house rule that you treat yours and your team mates figures as you-control as well as friendly. |

Re: Need Help - Uneven # of players
I think that the number of order markers per round is almost as important as the number of points per side if it is a team game. Maybe something that could be done is the 2 person team gets 3 sets of order markers for the team. They divvy it up between them (use one of the off color order markers for the third set to establish when the third set goes) and they don't necessarily have the same individual order markers each round. So round 1 person A has 1 and 3, the next round they have 2 and X. Whatever they choose. It could get a little unwieldy if they have to discuss their strategy every time, but it would be an interesting way to ply.
My alternate suggestion would be to play a 5 player game where each player can win by eliminating the player to his left ( or right ), or the second player to the left( or right). Either way, 5 is a lot of players for one game. A 1 vs 1 game and a 1 vs 1 vs 1 (or 1 vs 2) game at the same time would probably get more scape in. Follow the adventures of Agent Minivann
