Re: The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen Workshop

Doing a Doom Patrol style thing with Notorious makes sense to me.

C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen Workshop

Spoilers!

Griffin didn't have a first name in his original novel. Moore based his name on the murderer Hawley Harvey Crippin. Moore takes every opportunity to characterize Griffin as a sadistic megalomaniac.
Spoiler Alert!

He really helped the League on two occasions. First by slitting a man's throat while he was distracted by Mina and Allan, and second by spying on Campion Bond and M. He also attempted to betray the league once, and successfully betrayed mankind after that.
Spoiler Alert!

He's not like a lot of characters who are invisible when they want to be. He's invisible all the time, unless he wears makeup or clothes.
Even his allies can't see him.
Spoiler Alert!

Or those who think he's their ally.
Spoiler Alert!

He's not loyal to Mina, the other notorious members, or anyone. He only agrees to act as an Agent of the Crown for a pardon and possible cure.
Spoiler Alert!

Made him a play on Freddy Krueger, to play into the sadistic murderer aspect of him, and to reflect how truly invisible he is, to the point where even his own allies don't know his precise location. The order of him moving onto his card, then potentially switching teams is what makes him extra scary.
Quote:
NAME = INVISIBLE MAN
SECRET IDENTITY = HAWLEY GRIFFIN

SPECIES = MUTATE
UNIQUENESS = UNIQUE HERO
CLASS = PSYCHOPATH
PERSONALITY = NOTORIOUS

SIZE/HEIGHT = MEDIUM 5

LIFE = 4

MOVE = 5
RANGE = 1
ATTACK = 3
DEFENSE = 3

POINTS = ?

INVISIBLE SLEUTH
Invisible Man can move through all figures, is never attacked when leaving an engagement, and cannot be targeted by opponents' non-adjacent figures for any attacks or special powers that require clear sight. Invisible Man may attack at any point before, during, or after his normal move as long as he is on a space where he could end his movement. When Invisible Man is engaged, you may reveal an “X” Order Marker on this card to choose an unrevealed Order Marker on an opponent’s card and view it.

INVISIBLE MENACE
Before rolling for initiative, if Invisible Man is unengaged, you may place him on this card. Before taking a turn with Invisible Man, if he started his turn on this card, you may choose a figure on the battlefield that does not have the Blind Warrior special power, and roll one unblockable attack die against the chosen figure. A blank rolled counts as 2 skulls. After using this special power, if the chosen figure did not receive at least one wound, place Invisible Man adjacent to the chosen figure, if possible.

SELF-SERVING BETRAYAL
After the first round, if you control Invisible Man and lose initiative, you must roll the 20-sided die. Add 3 to the roll if Hawley is an Agent of the Crown. If you roll 6 or lower, remove any Order Markers on this figure's Army Card and choose an opponent who has not been chosen for Self-Serving Betrayal to take control of this figure and its card, if possible. The player who first controlled Hawley may never be chosen for this special power. If no player can be chosen, remove Hawley from the game.
Probably could use some trimming here and there. Maybe get rid of the attack at any point part, or clean up the third power. But that third power is one example of how I'd want Agent of the Crown to benefit the Agents themselves.

Re: The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen Workshop

I could see Allan moving away from Hunter and into Explorer (rather than Adventurer to avoid FF). And perhaps something like Heroic Avenger in place of Big Game Hunter.

Invisible Man has too much text. I wouldn't give him that kind of on/off the card power, since no other characters with Invisibility do that kind of thing. He still exists, like Hyde could find him.

A third power for Mina now could be about how she survived Dracula.
Something about Undead.

Re: The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen Workshop

Also minor questions on Jekyll & Hyde. There is no Mr. or Dr. in the index, only Mister and Doctor. Should they have that instead or could they have those titles to differentiate a little more from Marvel's Hyde? I'm guessing it's a grammatical thing.
Also do flip cards require one figure for both cards, are there any other special flip card rules that need to be followed?

Re: The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen Workshop

Flip cards do typically use one figure. When it requires two figures its usually two cards.

Could use the horrorclix, it's mid-transformation, although it has a beard and is pricey. Also he doesn't need the serum anymore but I don't really mind that personally.

Also Gardevoir figured out some good League figure options awhile ago here.

Re: The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen Workshop

Renowned makes sense. I like Explorer as well.

Although Hank Pym and Bruce Banner are not named as Dr., there are two Ms. Marvels, so
Dr. Jekyll SI: Henry Jekyll &
Mr. Hyde SI: Edward Hyde
should be fine, since that is how they are known. There's already
Slam Bradley SI: Samuel Bradley.

Hard to describe the difference between Mister Freeze and Mr. Fries,
or Doctor Strange and Dr. Strange, but one is like a larger-than-life persona, and the other has a formality to it that is more appropriate to Jekyll/Hyde.

The reason why it would be beneficial to make Jekyll/Hyde two figures on one card is because Jekyll is such a weakling, there'd be no reason to draft him. Unlike Banner, Jekyll retains his wounds sustained as Hyde. His purpose is purely as a limitation on the super powerful figure that Hyde would be.

Quote:

The fact that no other characters with invisibility play like him is exactly the point. He's just a naked always-invisible, but otherwise physically average guy. He just has no qualms about slitting one's throat from behind or beating them with a brick. The fun is to make him play in a unique and interesting way that reads like the comics, despite his tameness by superhero standards.

Dis Guy in Disguise has Plastic Man reveal himself from nowhere next to DO's or friendly figures. Talon aren't invisible, but their ninja skills can make them disappear/reappear. Kryptonian Infiltrators appear next to figures. Up to interpretation as to how. There's an upcoming card that uses Skrull Infiltrators in a way that leaves interpretation as to how they manifest.
I like this being a way of interpreting Griffin's unnerving presence.

Though I haven't given my take on Jekyll/Hyde yet, Griffin can't sneak up on Hyde, its embedded in the power. So if Griffin betrays the team and needs Hyde gone, Griffin will have to try for a riskier normal attack.

I agree, the original was too wordy, so I trimmed the fat and reworked him.

Quote:
INVISIBILITY
Invisible Man can move through all figures, is never attacked when leaving an engagement, and cannot be targeted by opponents' non-adjacent figures for any attacks or special powers that require clear sight.

INVISIBLE INFILTRATION
Before rolling for initiative, if Invisible Man is unengaged, you may place him on this card. Before taking a turn with Invisible Man, if he started his turn on this card, you may place him adjacent to any figure on the battlefield that does not have the Blind Warrior special power and may:
• Look at any unrevealed Order Markers on that figure's card; or
• Roll one unblockable attack die against that figure. A blank rolled counts as 2 skulls.
If Invisible Man uses Invisible Infiltration, he may not attack this turn.

SELF-SERVING BETRAYAL
After the first round, if you control Invisible Man and lose initiative, you must roll the 20-sided die. Add 1 to the roll for each other Renown or Notorious figure you control. If you roll 6 or lower, remove any Order Markers on this figure's Army Card and choose an opponent who has not been chosen for Self-Serving Betrayal to take control of this figure and its card. The player who first controlled Hawley may never be chosen for this special power. If no player can be chosen, remove Hawley from the game.
I do like that with this version of Betrayal, as you lose Renown/Notorious members like Quatermain/Hyde/Nemo, Griffin is more likely to back out, but Brave Mina does not influence his decision to stay.

Re: The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen Workshop

Ms. is different, because unlike Dr. (Doctor) or Mr. (Mister), using the full word it's an abbreviation of (Mistress) changes the sound of the words. Mistress Marvel is a very different character. I'd probably stick with Doctor and Mister, just as a style guide thing.

toy, that second take on Invisible Man is probably still too wordy. (Bullet points eat up a lot of card space! ) Independent of whether we represent his invisibility by letting him pop on/off the card, I think it makes sense to go with Splash's simpler Betrayal power.

Something about Undead.
Any C3G-original or movie-based element to these characters, we should eliminate any trace of in these designs. I understand the desire to call out to her roots in Dracula, but she's so much a League character on her own, adding an Undead related power wouldn't fit the character.

She doesn't really have any set skills relating to the Undead, and doesn't interact with them in any particular way in the series.

It's more what her relationship with Dracula did to her life afterwards, straining her marriage, making her a divorcée in a time where that was frowned upon by society, making her an outcast. Hardening her to life and dangerous/powerful individuals, becoming familiar with and knowledgeable of the fantastic.

Here are some insights on her feelings toward Dracula that she reveals in her journal entry about revising the castle with Allan.
Spoiler Alert!

So we know that Dracula still haunts her dreams, possibly literally, and she still has some affection for him. It negatively impacted her previous marriage, but factors into her intimacy with Alan.

Even if she is still drawn to Dracula, he still terrifies her.

These variations of bats are the closest we ever get to see of what Dracula would look like in League.

In this scene, she's on a fictional form of LSD that literally takes her to the Astral Plane, where her astral form was battling an incredibly powerful black magician.
Barely managing to make it back into her body in time, she comes back to consciousness faced with a group of bats let loose as part of a concert. Most likely, if she was sober, she would have just seen a bunch of bats. But the drugs, battle on the plane, mixed with her trauma, and possibly actual supernatural influence by Dracula's essence cause her to panic and break down at the hallucinated (?) appearance of Dracula.
But that's about as close as we get to seeing her deal with any vampires.

There's this dead body of a random Vampire in a museum shot:
Spoiler Alert!

And then in the final volume, a bunch of horrors become unleashed around the world, and the city of Vampires, Selene, starts becoming active once again:
Spoiler Alert!

So, an Undead power wouldn't really be relevant to her special powers, but perhaps there's some aspects of her character/journey that could inform a potential third ability.
