Re: Tournament Armies Played
Thanks Guys.
I went 9-11 at the Con. Not a good showing for me but I dare so I enjoyed this one more than the previous ones. I will be updating mine tonight. |

Re: Tournament Armies Played
I just reread this entire thread again to see how I stacked up against the big players now that I've actually played some tournament games. I thought my win % was pretty high.... until I saw lonewolf, spider_poison and Kahrma. Over 80% wins is insane.
And, did I mention that those three players completely dominated GenCon this year? Was there a tourney not named Damnation Alley that one of them didn't win? Gen Wars - Lonewolf Jumpstart - Lonewolf Mindshackle - spider Main Event - spider, lonewolf 2nd Unique Hero - Kahrma Classic Draft - Kahrma Cursed Lands - ? Dragon Wars - ? Heat of Battle - ? Marvel - none of them, because they were all in Day 2! I gotta look up who won those other three, but three players taking 6 out of the 9 featured tourneys at Gencon is pretty darn amazing. General Wars 5-0 (Champion) Jumpstart 3-0 (Champion) Main event (Day-1) 4-1 (8 seed for second day) Battle Above Cursed Lands 1-1 (What happened to me???) Main event (Day-2) 3-1 (2nd place overall) Unique Hero 4-1 (3rd place overall) Overall 20-4 for the Con (83%). Overall 43-6 (88%) So sad that Gencon brought down my win percentage. I was really happy to get wins over both Spider & Kahrma at Gencon. I beat SP in the General Wars and Kharma in the Jumpstart event. And as everyone knows lost to SP in the championship. I'll have a battle report up in the next couple of days. Last edited by lonewolf; August 20th, 2008 at 05:01 PM. |

Re: Tournament Armies Played
spider probably would have done very well in the Heat of Battle if he didn't have to play Craig at 5.
I'm not necessarily saying that they'd win, but I've come across some very good players in Iowa and Minnesota who didn't head to GenCon. gibberish_47 is probably up there with scaper_dude in the 'best scaper who can't drink yet' category. Phloid of Phloid and D-man is a methodical player who always brings a good army with him. Eclipse came awfully close to beating spider in the TTO last year. |

Re: Tournament Armies Played
The best thing about scaper_dude is his attitude. He loves the excitement and joy of playing the game. As good as he is, he doesn’t take himself too seriously and is always having fun. You can tell his enjoyment is derived from playing the game, not winning the game. I rank playing scaper_dude right up there with playing Revdyer in terms of it being an engaging, enjoyable experience. And that is saying quite a bit.

Re: Tournament Armies Played
I agree. I played scaper_dude in day 2 of the championship and had the fortune to eliminate him. He is by far the best "youngin" I have ever played. great sport, and a great Heroscape player. Lonewolf cursed me and threatened my life if I beat scaper_dude. I suppose my life is forfeit now, lol. It was a great game, very close, and very fun. He has a bright Heroscape future ahead of him.
