I think Yu-Gi-Oh is tricky due to the whole "the monsters aren't real" thing. Cool mechanics though!

SUPERSPEED
Sonic may move through all figures, never takes leaving engagement attacks, and does not have to stop his movement when entering water spaces. After taking a turn with Sonic, if he did not use his Spin Dash Special Attack this turn, he may move up to an additional 4 spaces.

SPIN DASH SPECIAL ATTACK
Range 1. Attack 3 + Special.
Before attacking with this special attack, you may move Sonic up to 2 spaces in a straight line, or up to 4 spaces in a straight line if he did not move normally this turn. For each space Sonic moves this way, roll 1 additional attack die.

ADVENTUROUS ESCAPE
When Sonic defends against an attack and you roll at least one shield, Sonic takes no damage and may immediately move up to 4 spaces. If Sonic is affected by at least one terrain effect or Destructible Object special power during this move, remove a Wound Marker from this card.
I've actually never been a huge fan of Sonic, but as probably the most prolific and successful video game>comic character, it's a little funny we've done so many other video game characters before him.

First 2 powers feel pretty self-explanatory. Last power is representing the adrenaline junkie side of the character, and also the tendencythe games have to do environmental-based set pieces. (A level where he's on a snowboard, a level where he's being chased by a giant truck, etc.) Not sure I love it (or that it even works tbh), but I think this design (a) needs a bit of dodginess to it, and (b) needs some "attitude" involved in it.

Adventurous Escape is fun, definitely gets that theme of different platformer levels across to me.

In the anime, which in turn adapts the manga, the card game has actually been played since ancient Egypt and the spirits of the monsters (who primarily live in the Shadow Realm/like another dimension) live in the cards and came to life I think.

Plus there was that whole arc where they got trapped in a hologram world and the monsters where basically real (like Holodeck Moriarty level).

"Technically, Duel Monsters is an ancient Egyptian ritual, and was used to capture demons and monsters so they wouldn't possess people (Think card game exorcism, but with giant stone tablets). Because of this, the cards that are made based off these monsters display some form of awareness and sentience, as shown best by Yugi's dark magician and dark magician girl, as well as Kuriboh*.

Pegasus was the first individual to discover the stone tablets containing the monsters, and founded a company, Industrial Illusions, that created Duel Monsters as we know it today. He also lost his eye in Egypt, and had it replaced with the Millennium Eye, allowing him to read minds and look into a person's soul. Because of this, Pegasus gained insight into what made the stone tables display awareness."

And when duelists are playing Shadow Games the monsters are totally real.

That Sonic looks fun, would love to see him on the board sometime. I know there is the Monopoly Gamer set that has Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy minis. Sadly not as many figures as the Overwatch or Mario sets. Can't vouch for scale though as it's the only set I don't own, but if it's anything like the others it should be good.

For his class, could have something like Fighter, Rebel, or Adventurer? Mobian would make sense as the race if you wanted any sort of synergy with other Sonic the Hedgehog designs. One thing that seems to be consistent with Sonic in almost all medias is that he's a freedom fighter.

The Dark Magicians could be a fun mini faction, I like how you've adapted them Splash! I definitely remember there being something in the anime at least where the Dark Magicians were either actual characters, or there was a version of them that was real. Been a long time since I watched that though. Minis are kicking about but really expensive, last time I checked TrollnToad had Dark Magician Girl's clix figure for $30.

Yu-Gi-Oh feels like Pokémon where if the series got approved, you'd probably have to pluck specific individuals of that creature, like Ash or Red's Pikachu etc.

Yeah, I was definitely thinking Rebel as a possibility. It fits the Archie Comics Freedom Fighter stuff, but I can also buy Sonic as a Rebel in general.

From the little I know of Sonic is that he like fights for the forest critters against people, so Rebel fits, or Protector or Defender.

So under Neutron Blast I want it so they also can't cast spells (along with no special powers) until wounds are resolved, but I think that's covered when Magical Defense goes away. Let me know if I'm wrong though.
