Has any body tried growing crystals as LOS blockers?

Hey everyone,
Today I was walking through Hobby Lobby, and I saw those Grow-Crystals, and was thinking to myself, "Hey, those are kinda cool. Maybe I could use them as LOS and Movement blockers for HS. They're cheap, take little effort, and they're shiney". What more could you want? Although, the problem is, I don't have alot of cash to blow, and didn't want to waste the money on them if they didn't work well, so I was just wondering if anybody has tried this alread, and if so, did it work well?

Ok Back on Topic (happy Dead Eye?)

I have seen those crystal growing kits before and I do not think they are sturdy enough for Scape...one table bump and they will fall over and shatter.

Yeah, that's kinda what I was thinking, but I wanted to see if anyone new for sure.

I've read about growing them before. It was photocopied out of a magazine, and just required a few common items. Let me see if I can go dig it up.

EDIT: Ok, they're crystal gardens grown using charcoal as a substrate... and look nothing like what I was expecting. But probably much cheaper.
