new idea that has made heroscape fun again

i was starting to get bored with the game (a 5 in a row losing streak will do that) and had an idea................

1st build a good size map long ways. then in the middle of the map make a hill. high or low it's up to you. then make this hill spread out just a bit to hold a battle and some troops. and i usually put up castle toppers (the pieces that go on the walls) around the hill hit and miss. kinda to direct traffic
then this is where it gets interesting. or atleast it makes it interesting for us. we took 2 rings out of Lord of the Rings RISK and placed them in the hill. then when the game started the race was on. because who ever had the ring got 2 more attack but only 1 defense added. (a minnion with a ring on the other team is bad news ). and if you have a friendly figure right next to you you can pass it one time per turn.
*if the ring holder falls due to a range attack the ring falls on that hex. 1st come 1st serve. if adjacent then you now have it
*if a member of a squad has it then only that 1 figure has the ring power not the entire squad.

please tell me what you guys think of this. we really enjoy playing it like this. you would think the ring holder would be impossible to beat but the again deathwalker 9000 can be dropped by an arrow orc. :P

It sounds interesting. It's like a glyph that can be passed around and only affects a single figure. Was the ring passable even if the selected figure didn't have an order marker?

This is not the path I thought.
This is not the place I sought.
This is not the dream I bought,
just a fever of fate I've caught.

Cool idea to keep things fresh. I don't play nearly as much as I'd like so I haven't had a chance to get bored quite yet, but I have envision playing a similar scenario with a much stronger object (that cannot be passed around until the holder is dead).

Somthing that gives the 'holder' a huge advantage, like +5 attack, but on the flip side each round before attacking they must roll the 20 sided die, and on a 1-5 (the 1st time) the bearer is overtaken by the power of the object and goes mad.

From there I hadn't decide whether or not to have the figure die, or maybe go rogue and just try to kill whatever is in front of him (friend or foe).

If a 1-5 is not rolled, then you take a normal turn with the +5 attack. Then next round when you roll the 20 sider, it now becomes a 1-10 to be over taken. Then 1-15 and finally 1-19, after the 4th round the figure is automatically overtaken by the object.

we quit playing with order markers a long time ago because a buddy kept messing it up. but if we did we would make it where you could pass it to protect it or move to the front line. just as long as they are adjacent.
