Online Blood Bowl League Anyone?

Hello fellow Scapers. I wanted to know if anybody played Blood Bowl online, or wanted to start playing in a league. For those who don't know, Blood Bowl is a football/rugby tabletop game from Games Workshop. It features 20 or so fantasy races such as orcs, elves, undead, etc. You make a team out of a variety of units, play games, earn xp, upgrade players, kill opponents, buy items. I just was introduced to it last week by a friend, and found there is a free online version of the game. I was interested in starting a league with some other semi-serious gamers, and could think of no better community than this one to look for people to play with.

Like I said, I'm new to the game and have only played a game or two myself. But anyone of any experience level is welcome to join. To check out the rules here is the link to the complete rulebook in PDF format:

It's pretty complicated, as with most Games Workshop stuff. But very strategic, sort of like football chess. But the best part of all is that there is a free online game client that automates all the dice rolls, so you don't have to memorize all the particulars.

This sounds pretty cool. I'm definitely going to look into it once I get familiar with it I'll more than likely be joining your league. I probably won't get to check it out until monday though. I'm off to the beach tomorrow, and have band camp when I get back but I'll be home monday night. Thanks for the link, I'll get back to you then!

Looks cool - I know Chuckrock is really into this game, and I'm sure another couple of Houstonians might dig an online league as well. I'll be back atcha'!

Well, ...I am part of a BloodBowl League, but not exactly what you're looking for...

For starters, our league didn't like the direction that BB was going with the new 'perpetual BloodBowl' rules, so we voted NOT to adopt the v5.0 LRB. We play using the LRBv4.0, plus a bunch of House Rules. You can find all the details here.

Second, though we do allow the use of the java client (like the screenshot above), most of our players prefer to use the play-by-e-mail tool by Ronald Lokers and Tom Anders. It fits our schedules better, allowing us to play our turns whenever we have the time. The downside is that the games take longer to finish, ...usually 7-10 days per game. But lastly, ...though we used to play lots of one-offs and two major tournaments each year, ...we have sadly not been very active in 2007. We skipped our Chaos and BloodBowl Cups entirely this year due to cramped project/life schedules, and I doubt we'll do much play again before 2008...

But, ...if you (and/or your crew) are interested in reverting back to the v4.0 rules for your teams and games, I'd be glad to send e-mails to all my league members and see who's up for a few games...

Well, the site that handles the teams and rankings requires use of the LRB 4.0 rules as well, if I'm reading it correctly. But, I'd definitely prefer playing live as opposed to a move or two every day.

Well, started the league over on http://www.fumbbl.com. No one from here signed up, but I've got 8 people from real life who are going to play. If anyone does want to join head on over and create a team in the League division. Then send me a PM here or there and I'll add you to the league.

The format will be 2 divisions, who will play each other twice, and people from the other division once. Then we'll have a playoff tournament, and after that the whole thing will repeat. Probably will be a 2-month cycle.

You can have up to 2 teams, but they must be different races, and you can't use one of the races already in use. Also, team names must be a place and a mascot, like a real sports team. We're hoping to start on Monday, as we're still waiting on a bunch of people to get their teams together. So join up quick!
