Re: The Book of Gorgon - Design
Great write-up GP, he's going to be a nasty addition to both the HYDRA and Mutant faction.

Yeah, straight up death is the way to go. Gorgon actually got turned to stone by his own gaze when fighting Wolverine as Wolvie flashed his claws at the right time and reflected Gorgon's gaze back at him. After Gorgon was turned to stone, Wolverine sliced him up into a bunch of smaller stones. In the series Secret Warriors, Baron von Strucker and others from HYDRA busted into a secret Hand fortress/compound and after dumping the rocks that were Gogon on to the floor, forced the Hand healers to bring him back to life and they did. The Inhumans Madusa uses her very long red hair to attack, entwine and throw opponents around. She's not like the Greek version with the snakes for hair and stone gaze. Re: The Book of Gorgon - Design
Cool, glad you guys like it. I've been itching to get this guy designed/carded since the figure came in the mail.

Re: The Book of Gorgon - Design
This guy is gonna cost much more than 300 in the end I think. His special attack is gonna be brutal on Superman.
Precognitive Strike is also going to hurt big melee heroes like Hercules. I like this design as it is though so unless your aiming for 300 points, I say keep it as it is and just find the cost that works. |

Re: The Book of Gorgon - Design
I really like the thought of using Gorgon to take on 'god like' figures a lot stronger than he is. It really fits with his Fearless personality and his combination of abilities should allow him to do that. I put the limit on the SA of once per round to keep his cost in check.
He will definitely have some counters in ranged/fliers as he is a ground pounder and his Precognitive Strike only works on adjacent attacks. Any of the Green Lanterns should make quick work of him. Also, figures with Mental Shield can get around his Precognitive Strike. Magneto, Gorilla Grodd, Juggernaut, etc. Grodd should make a relatively cheap counter. To have him come in at 300 would be really cool because then you could swap out Red Skull and a squad of Hydra Agents in a Hydra build for another thematic army option. His Terrorist class will let him work nicely with Strucker in being able to move up if you win initiative because you really want him to be engaged. All that being said you're probably right about 300 being unrealistic and he's probably closer to 320-330. |

Re: The Book of Gorgon - Design
I was wondering, can we tweak this:

Re: The Book of Gorgon - Design
Thanks Porkins!
I mostly see him using the Stone Gaze to take out squad figures, but if you're desperate it might be worth it to try on a hero too. Or if a Hero is up on a ledge and can't be reached. Quote:

Re: The Book of Gorgon - Design
I think it's cleaner (and less confusing) to just end the turn - and consistent with how we handled the similar Psychic Defense X.
Good call by Porkins on modeling Stone Gaze wording off of Braxas ... does Sudema really have that clustered squad/hero wording? Or was that just a tweak because she treats all figures the same? C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book of Gorgon - Design
Yeah, I can see Stone Gaze to be worded similar to Braxas' Acid Spray. But instead of 3 figures with in 4 spaces, it should be more focused like "choose a figure up to 2 clear sight spaces away from Gorgon, ....up to 2 figures adjacent to the chosen figure are affected by Stone Gaze." This would help keep it focused but not limit it to a straight line only. I can see it having a lower roll for common figures and unique squad figures, and then have a real high number for a Unique Hero. A chosen figure up to 2 spaces away still gives it a max range of 3 if there's a figure behind that figure.
Spoiler Alert!
