I thought so too back when I saw it.

Re: Movies: What did You Watch Last Night?
Velvet Buzzsaw is an embarrassing disaster of obvious satire and hilariously bad PG-level horror. Massively disappointing after Nightcrawler from the same writer and director.

Re: Movies: What did You Watch Last Night?
I saw The Watchmen last night for the first time.
It was ok. Really neat in some ways, but probably about 40 minutes longer than it probably could have been. Pluses for me are the alternate world with Nixon there for 5 terms. Showing some of the darker side of the vigilante life. Also along those lines, Rorsarch having a childhood that is usually a staple for bad guys. Negatives for me were the length of the movie for one. I think there was just so much useless filler. Not sure about how any of them got the skills they got. Comic was a douche. I didn't care about any of the characters. Rorsarch seemed pretty badass for such a little fella and Ozi whatever seemed overly fast and strong, unless he was a metahuman. The only one that seemed like they got physically altered was Dr. Manhattan, and he was pretty annoying, though I suppose he was supposed to be. Re: Movies: What did You Watch Last Night?
Did you see the companion piece, the animated Tales of the Black Freighter? If you read the graphic novel you know that is the comic book in the story.
Really good. |

Re: Movies: What did You Watch Last Night?
No, I just watched it on Netflix. Didn't know anything about a companion piece. Also, I never read the comics, so there is that aspect of me not appreciating certain things perhaps.

Re: Movies: What did You Watch Last Night?
In the main story, they repeatedly show a kid reading it at the newsstand.

Re: Movies: What did You Watch Last Night?
Saw Captain Marvel and really enjoyed it. The beginning is intentionally jumbled, but it gets clearer. The second post credit scene is literally after the final credits!

Quote:
Excellent movie, I thought. It compares interestingly with Wonder Woman, because they have superficial similarities. I thought this told a more compact, exciting story, but Wonder Woman was a superior film. |
