Overall: An interesting design that can do some cool stuff. She's doing a whole lot of stuff for relatively low points and no investment though, and even if you don't get all of the different aspects of the powers firing at once most of them are pretty good tricks on their own. I personally wouldn't say no to a minor point bump and maybe a requirement for there to be an OM on her card for the chess power to happen.

I think the synergy for Manipulated figures can easily get out of hand if more are made, feels like that should just be limited to her chosen pawn people. Definitely the attack and defense boost at least. So like the first power declares the chosen people her chosen whatevers, then can add to attack and defense of a chosen whatever if they're Manipulated.

Yeah, though I overplayed it on the chess stuff by moving both teams at the same time, I'll agree that she does a lot for a little investment and that raising the cost wouldn't be unreasonable.

Wow, 6 games. Impressive SW! I wondered about the Manipulated personality being a hook, was thinking we had someone else that could also do that but then started thinking I was confusing myself with Hypnotized.

Thanks for the tests!

We can probably just drop the Manipulated personality in general. No real need for it. Not often personalities are synergy hooks, nor do I imagine you get denied from many armies from Mantis by potential shared personalities.

Also fine with an OM requirement for Cerebral Chess, as well as a minor point bump.

MENTAL MANIPULATION
At the start of the game you may choose a Unique Hero in each Army. While a chosen Hero is within 9 spaces of Moondragon or destroyed, it has the personality of Manipulated, the class of Guardian, or Pawn if it is an enemy, instead of what is listed on its card. Before a Manipulated Hero attacks or defends, you may add or subtract 1 from its Attack or Defense number.

CEREBRAL CHESS
After rolling initiative, you may roll 9 combat dice, then choose one of the following:
• For each skull rolled, move a friendly figure up to 2 spaces.
• For each shield rolled, move an enemy figure without the Mental Shield special power up to 2 spaces.
If a figure is Manipulated, you may move that figure up to 2 additional spaces. Figures moved by this special power ignore all leaving engagement attacks.

TITANIAN TECHNIQUE
When defending against an attack, if you roll more skulls than the attacking figure, the most wounds Moondragon can take from this attack is one and, if the attacking figure is adjacent to Moondragon, it receives a wound.

Army 2 (me) 1010pts: Pinhead 335pts, Jason Voorhees 175pts, Freddy Krueger 175pts, Michael Myers 135pts, Leatherface 95pts, Sam 95pts.

Preamble: S.W.O.R.D. Commander Abigail Brand, working in a joint operation with A.R.M.O.R., calls in an assortment of the universe’s most renowned and notorious spacefaring adventurers to combat a threat deemed too horrifying to escape the Dark Dimension!

Round 1: Moondragon chooses Hulk and Pinhead for Mental Manipulation. Star-Lord’s Ragtag Tactics are in play. The Shape chooses Hulk for Michael’s Victim. Brand recruits Moondragon as an Agent. Spaceteam wins Initiative roll. A Cerebral Chess roll moves all four friendlies two spaces and Hulk four.
OM1 Brand moves and then Moondragon moves as Backup. Mike can’t see Hulk and I’ve decided to keep Jason next to Pinhead this game as a bodyguard of sorts. OM1 Denizens of Hell for three skulls. Freddy wounds Hulk for 1. Myers moves, so does Leatherface. OM2 Hulk leaps. OM2 Hell roll, no skulls. OM3 Agents move. Myers gains a Stalker marker. OM3 Hell, one skull. Myers moves off a lava field space.

Round 2: Star-Lord is an Agent. Hellteam IR. Sam Trick R Treats Hulk. The OM stays. Chess moves four enemies. Pinhead moves forward four, Jason moves back two, so does Leatherface. Myers is moved onto molten lava! He receives one wound.
OM1 Hell moves Myers moves out of lava toward Hulk. He’s really close. OM1 Star-Lord moves, but not before Myers moves adjacent to the Hulk and rolls a skull for 1 wound. Then Brand moves and shoots Myers for 1 wound. Jason has also moved two spaces. OM2 Hell two skulls. Oop, Myers hits Hulk for 2 (Trick buff and Moondragon buff for Hulk), a little more than I wanted. Hulk is angry now. Freddy hits Moondragon for 1 wound. OM2 on Hulk, Stalker marker, Jason moves 2, Hulk leaps to Pinhead and takes 1 engagement wound. Manipulation adds one to Hulks attack and subtracts one from Pinheads defense rolls. Rage adds five to Hulks roll as well, but the leap takes away three, and high ground adds one so Hulk is rolling ten dice total against Pinhead’s five. Pinhead is hit for 2 wounds. OM3 two skulls. Freddy puts a wound on Moondragon. Jason moves up and adjacent to Hulk and rolls five skulls (with high ground and Trick buff). With Moondragon and Rage, Hulk rolls twelve dice, with four shields and takes 1 wound. OM3 was on Moondragon, Myers adds a Stalker marker, Moondragon moves adjacent to Hulk and fires all shields at Pinhead, who rolls one less defense die, but that doesn’t matter.

Round 3: Star-Lord is an Agent again. Spaceteam initiative. Chess moves four enemies, Leatherface and Sam just move back, Jason hops down to a shadow pit/low ground, Myers meets his friend molten lava again and receives another wound. OM1, Myer moves out of lava, Jason moves, Hulk rolls thirteen dice on Pinhead’s five, with Moondragon helping. Pinhead takes 3 wounds. OM1 Hell two skulls, Pinhead rolls for Hooked Chains on Hulk who has one life left. It kills Hulk. Freddy hits Moondragon for 1 wound. Myers markers are removed and he chooses Brand. OM2, Myers moves two, as does Jason. Moondragon takes adjacent high ground to Pinhead and rolls five skulls. Pinhead rolls five dice (Manipulated) and it’s not good, Sam’s Hallowed Tradition with X marker allows for a reroll, but it’s not enough. Pinhead falls. OM2 was on Freddy so he rolls against Moondragon, but fails and pops into reality. OM3, Jason two, Mike marker. Brand moves to Myers and attempts and fails a Pyro burn. Brand shoots Myers for 1 wound. OM3 Freddy kills Moondragon, but receives a wound from Titanian Technique. Freddy dissipates back to the dreamosphere.

Round 4: Agent Star-Lord. Hellteam initiative. Sam ToT’s Starlord, OM stays on, bonus against Star-Lord.
OM1 Myers hits Brand for 1 wound. OM1, Myers hits Brand with an unblockable, Jason moves adjacent to Brand. Brand fails to burn or wound Myers. OM2 Freddy removes 1 wound, misses Quill, and pops onto high ground. OM2, Stalker marker, Star-Lord misses Freddy on the first Distracting Fire. OM3 Myers misses Brand. OM3, Myers misses an unblockable. Quill misses three times with DF, but at least gets to the same level.

Round 5: Agent Quill. Spaceteam.
OM1, Stalker, Brand misses burn and rolls four skulls against Myers, killing him, for now. OM1 was on Myers. OM2, Jason moves up to Brand, Star-Lord tries DF again and it is blunted again by two shields. OM2 is on Freddy who deals 1 wound. OM3 Star-Lord moves toward Brand and escapes an engagement strike. OM3 Jason wounds Brand for 1.

Round 6: Myers is back with One Good Scare! Agent Quill. Hellteam. ToT removes an OM from Brand.
OM1 Myers kills Brand. Myers goes after Star-Lord now. OM1, Jason moves, Stalker, Star-Lord gets to high ground and misses Myers. OM2 Freddy back on card. OM2 gone. OM3 Jason moves up to Star-Lord and rolls five skulls. Star-Lord fails to defend and bites it.

Notes: This was not a good game for the Marvel heroes.

Mental Manipulation - Plus Defense for Hulk X2. Plus Attack for Hulk X2. Minus Attack for Pinhead X0. Minus Defense for Pinhead X4

Preamble: Thanos is again on a universal conquest with an unimaginably powerful stranger in tow; his name Kal-El. It is not known what keeps this being under Thanos’s command, but the Mad Titan has ways of getting others to bend to his will. Thanos’s greatest adversaries, Moondragon, Quasar, and Drax the Destroyer assemble to stop him and his conflicted ally. The fate of more than one universe may depend on it.

Round 1: Thanos is Drax’s Nemesis. Moondragon chooses Quasar and Superman. Thanos initiative. Moondragon moves all friendlies with Chess.
OM1 Thanos moves. Drax moves. OM1 Kree Scout and Quasar move. OM2 Thanos moves again. Drax moves again. OM2 Moondragon moves. OM3 Supes moves next to Thanos on the high ground and uses Heat Vision SA on Quasar totaling four skulls. Quasar takes 1 wound (with Moondragon bonus). OM3 Drax moves in between Quasar and Moondragon.

Round 2: Heroes initiative. Moondragon sends Supes and Thanos into lava, they both receive 1 wound.
OM1 Drax moves up above Thanos but is blocked, even with nine dice. OM1 Thanos moves up between Drax and Quasar and misses Quasar (MM). OM2 Scout misses Thanos. Quasar moves up and rolls seven dice (MM) and lands 2 wounds on Thanos. OM2 Supes flies to Drax and rolls eight dice (hg - MM). Drax blocks. OM3 Drax hits Thanos for 1 wound. OM3 Supes doesn’t move off the center lava field space to avoid e strike and keep highest ground. Supes hits Drax for 2 wounds (hg-mm). Supes takes 1 wound from end of round lava field damage.

Round 3: Heroes initiative. Chess is only one shield so Superman jumps into the lava and takes 1 wound.
OM1 Drax moves up and rolls nine skulls. Thanos dies. A Skrull appears. OM1 Supes flies up and misses Drax (mm). OM2 Scout moves up and misses the Skrull. Quasar attacks and Supes defends (mm both) with Man of Steel blanks doing most of the work, but a Quantum Bands blank gets through. OM2 Supes is blocked by Drax (mm). OM3 Scout misses again. Quasar deals 2 wounds to Supes (mm both). OM3 Supes blows Skrull down and Drax into lava. Drax rolls a 2 and succumbs to the lava.

Round 4: Thanos is SPURNED BY DEATH and placed in the center. Hero initiative. All enemies take a lava nap. The Skrull dies, Thanos rolls ONE and takes 4 wounds, Superman rolls a four and takes 1 wound.
OM1 Scout shoots and actually 1 wounds Thanos, Quasar kills Thanos for the second time with MM and Quantum blanks. OM1 gone. OM2 Quasar (hg+MM) kills Superman (mm). A Skrull appears and burns up immediately.

Notes: Very swingy lava focused game. When Drax died I was sure heroes would lose. Moondragon swung the game back in Round 4. Thanos was literally killed again before he could do anything! I underestimated her this game, by the time I decided to target Moondragon I was either stuck in engagement or dead.

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: 210pts is about right, both games were kind of swingy, especially the last; being on a lava map (even with C3G rules) didn’t help that.
Balance feels good, try to keep her a little further back and away from anyone who could deliver a one shot and she’ll be messing with your opponents for most of the game, especially if they are stuck in engagements with other figures.
Mental Manipulation is great, I’m pretty sure I managed to remember every roll, might be trickier to run with a few other figures that adjust things to keep track of it all.
Cerebral Chess for me would be the draw for a consistent drafting pick, moving out half your army to better points or dragging your enemies around is great.
Titanian Technique wasn’t used as much, but comes in handy when your opponent decides Moondragon is becoming too big of a problem to ignore.
Flying even makes the Move of 5 feel nice.

GENERAL THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT: I’d say Moondragon did well on the first game, despite the team losing abysmally, and overperformed the second (although lava maps are a friend of mind control type powers). Moondragon didn’t do much direct damage, especially in two armies with a heavy hitter focus, but definitely makes up for it in her other abilities which leave the enemy confused as to whether to focus on the big guns or go out of the way to avoid bad rolls and being moved around the whole game. Also it was really cool to kill Thanos before he could even do anything after being Spurned.

Updated with those changes. 20 point bump to 230. OM requirement on Cerebral Chess. Dropped personality modification. Limited the stat boost to specifically the ones you're changing.

More than enough to play it safe. Splash should have his games in today, so I'm gonna propose we move to Final Editing.
