Character Battle- Main Thread. Updated: 7-8-08

I've tried to divide it up among squads and heroes, and this is the initial setup for the polling. The later Polls will get filled in as we get winners. I'm going to do one poll at a time (to keep the clutter down), and the poll will only be open for 4 days. I will update this list with a vote count for each character in each poll as we go. You can click on the Poll title to go directly to that poll. Update Poll 1: The winner of the first battle was Grimnak, it was close, but he pulled out ahead for the win. Second place was much closer with only one vote separating 2nd and 3rd. The gap between 3rd and 4th, however, is much larger with 8 votes between them. We found out that while Finn can be a valuable asset to your army, he most definitely not a favorite. Thanks to all of you who voted. Update Poll 2: The Results are in, and the winner is... Syvarris! He beat out Raelin by 3 votes. Surprisingly Sgt. Drake came in 4th (at least surprisingly to me), and poor Thorgrim came in last with only 3 votes, 4 less than his cousin Finn. Update Poll 3: Poll 3 results are in. The Krav Maga have the biggest win yet, and the Vikings didn't come in last! It was also our biggest vote turn out yet. Update Poll 4: People like robots! At least, they like the Omicron snipers. The snipers won hands down by 12 votes. It was a close battle for 2nd though, and we had our first tie! Tied for 4th place, the Gruts and Vipers both recieved 9 votes. Update Poll 5: We have "Mittens" as the winner by quite a bit with this one! Marcus came in 2nd, Taelord in a distant 3rd, and we won't even mention the other two... Update Poll 6: The end is here, and the winner is... Knights of Weston! The Minions came into a close second with the 4th Mass right behind them. I personally expected the 4th mass to dominate, but even though they're tournament favorites, they're not the overall favorite. Update Poll 7: Krug blows out the competition. Need I say more? Due to a screw up on my part, Krug was a late entry, but he blew the others out of the water. He received more than 2x as many votes as MBS, who came in a distant second. We have a first for this poll too. Swog rider has the loser prize by receiving no votes. Update Poll 8: Once again, the top three contestants are close to each other, but no where near the bottom three. The Microcorp are our winners, but only by two votes. Every vote counts people, and if you want to see your favorite in the finals, vote! Update Poll 9: Alistar obliterates the competition with almost two times as many votes. People like the kilt. Our poor DW only recieved two votes though. Those guys get no love.  Update Poll 10: This one was pretty straightforward. It was basically Elves vs Samurai, and the winner was... the Samurai by 8. The other three aren't even worth mentioning beyond saying that the Sacred Band only received 2 votes. I can see why, but still, those poor guys... Update Poll 11: Morsbane was our winner by a couple of votes, with Major X17 in a close second. Poor Parmenio only had 2 votes... Update Poll 12: After shuffling the polls a bit, we find out that people like ninjas better than rats, and who can blame them? Ninjas are just cool. Out of the lower five, Samurai are the top dogs, with Vydar's armies following close behind. Just behind the Blasting Agents, the Elf Warriors are in a respectable 5th with only 2 votes separating them from 3rd place. On the other hand, robot dogs are not as popular as robot rats. In this case they are not man's best friend. Poor doggies.  Update Poll 13: This was another blowout poll. Apparently, DeD and Crixus are favored in their respective groups. Mr. Murphy fell right about in the middle. Although, Guilty is a favored hero for any army, he's not anyones favorite. In a surprise move to all, Spartacus actually received votes! Poor Retiarius only has one supporter though, and that voter probably clicked on the wrong choice.  Anyway, we have two definite winners in this poll, Dan and Crixus. Though Dan is the winner, Crixus definitely gave him a run for his money. Update Poll 14: There is no question about it, people like the dead.  The undead DOMINATED this poll. The ZoM recieved 12 more votes than 2nd place. The Shades, Imperium, and Gruts, once they realized they had no chance at winning, fought tooth and nail for 2nd place. Shades came out on top by one vote, infuriating the orcs among our ranks. The Imperium came in a respectable 5th, just 4 votes shy of 2nd. I was surprised by the fact that the samurai didn't do more. With a sad 6 votes, apparently they are the hated squad among the Samurai. Good luck next time Samurai. To everyone else, the Zombies are coming...Update Poll 15: Wow... What more can be said? Kaemon Awa completely obliterated the competition. All of the other competitors votes combined don't equal how many he got. I don't know if it's worth mentioning, but Eldgrim lost 2nd place one vote. Way to go Awa! Update Poll 16: The poor Ashigaru. Nobody seemed to hate them in the discussion, but the votes tell a different story. The Retchets and Templar fought a good fight with the Templar coming out on top. The reason most people gave for voting for them? Their sculpts. The Templar move on, and the Retchets fall just short of the win. Update Poll 17: Cyprien has done it. He currently has the most votes of any winner up to this point. We have another blowout poll. Apparantly you guys only like Cyprien. You have no love for the rest of the Esenweins. Isamu did well compared to the rest of the characters, but it was nowhere enough to compete with Cyprien. What really suprised me once this poll was started was the fact that Sonya, while she helps out Cyprien, didn't warrant any votes of her own. She joins the Swog Rider as one of only two characters to recieve no votes. Update Poll 18: Ok, we have to talk. DW 8k only got three votes. We have to check your mental capacity people. Come on, Deathwalker? With a name like that, it has to be cool. 18 votes. 18 VOTES! That's all between Deathwalker 7000, 8000, 9000, and the Zettians. That's an average of 4.5 apiece. Someone needs to tell WotC that we need better DW's or no DW's. Oh yeah, and Charos won... yahoo... (stupid Deathwalkers, at least they look cool...) Update Poll 19: This was a fun one. Q9 finally DIDN'T dominate. He did tie for 2nd though. Nilfheim won by 10 votes. Theracus, while many agree that he has his usefulness, didn't do so hot. Jotun tied for second with a good showing. Update Poll 20: This one was close. The monkey and the knight fought it out hard, but the primate prevailed. Ornak was loved, but he didn't get enough to pull ahead. The elf and the samurai on the other hand, had a decent showing, but not a spectacular showing. The monkey moves on, and Mr. Gilbert cries in a corner, angry that he lost his shot at fame and fortune to an animal... Update Poll 21: The elves have it! Sonlen is the definate winner, but there was some heated competition between the marro and Q10, but none of them could come close to Drake, who clinched an easy second. This poll gave us some interesting info. The first time around, Drake brought in 13% of the vote out of 5. The second time, he brings in 23% out of 7. One of the other interesting this is while Raelin barely lost to Syvarris the first time around, she can't even bring in one vote. You can speculate the reason, but it is interesting. Lastly, Major Q10 received 10 votes. I think this competition is rigged.... FIGHT THE MACHINE! Update Poll 22: This. Wasn't. Even. Close. The Marro with a stinging victory over the competition, didn't even give them a chance. We have another blowout victory. The rest of the competitions votes combined don't even equal the number of votes received by the Stingers. I found one of interesting things about the win was that they received a lot of votes for coolness, not just their playability. The EOV had a good showing, but it wasn't nearly enough to catch up with the Stingers. Update Poll 23: This was a close one. No one really ran away with this one. There was only ten votes difference between Nerak (1st) and Dumutef (4th). This is the smallest distance we've ever had between 1st and last place. Other than that, not much else can be said other than the fact that all three of the promos beat Dumutef. Now the real fun begins... Update Poll 24: This was a good start to the semi-finals. The Knights pulled ahead and stayed ahead. They were able to overcome the competition. Though the Samurai were loved, it wasn't enough to defeat their shiny foes. The range all came in last with the agents (KMA and Microcorp) beating out the poor Omicron. Well, the Knights have earned a spot in the finals. Update Poll 25: Two words: KRUG SMASH! Ok, now that we have that over with, there were some interesting things about this poll in particular: 1. Krug received exactly %50 of the vote. 2. If you take Krug out of the picture, the rest of the figs are in the order that they finished. ie. Grimnak was listed first, he would have been first, etc. etc. All the way down to DED listed last, and getting last. 3. Last time Krug was in a poll, we got a little screwed up (I forgot to add him), and this time, we had some unexpected issues too (we had a server crash and reset). Update Poll 26: There are no losers in this poll. The ninjas win, but they definitely had to work for it. Any one of these players could have easily won, but the stingers and zombies came in a respectable 2nd and 3rd. The templars are the real winners in this poll, they received Revdar's vote. Update Poll 27: Cyprien is the clear winner. While Kaemon fought hard, he just couldn't catch up to Mr. Esenwein. Nilfheim lost 3rd to Sonlen by one vote. This was a good battle, but the best is yet to come... Update Poll 28: Well, this wasn't really close, the Knights beat out the ninjas for the favorite squad of Heroscapers. Update Poll 29: Wow, this was a hard fought battle but in the end, the vampire came out on top by 10 votes. It was a close one the whole way, but Cyprien came up with the win. Neat idea. It'll be interesting to see. How should people vote? Based on fun? Competitiveness? Cool factor? Sculpt? Some bizarre combinations of all of the above? I'd favor this last one.
Maybe they could all be locked after a set number of days (once voting ceases) so they don't clutter the forum forever? Quote:

Yeah, actually, I was only gonna do one poll at a time for 2 days apiece. I'll update the post to say that. Yeah, it's your favorite for whatever reason. Maybe you like the Tarn Vikings because your Norse or whatever. It'll be fun to see.
