Announcing ScapeCon II: July 13 -- July 17

2/7/22 Announcements:

1. The event schedule will be posted on April 2nd (so you know it's not a joke).

2. Three events will occupy multiple time slots. The RtW Championship will still be Friday-Saturday per usual, but there will also be other events running at the same time as it in case you don't want to play in it. The two other events will serve as additional “championship”-style events (with single-elimination top cuts).

3. Most (if not all) side events will be capped at 16 players. Doing this guarantees that no side event will require more than 4 rounds to determine a clear winner. However, we WILL run enough events to meet capacity demands, and the three multi-time slot events will be UNCAPPED (as well as the two multiplayer formats).

4. Due to this player cap on side events, they will be first come first serve. Once you've paid your full badge price, you can post in the (upcoming) sign-up thread to sign up for events. If you wait until very close to the Con to sign up, you may not be able to play in your preferred event.

5. 1-day badges will go on sale on May 1st for $110. A GenCon 1-day badge is $65 for Thursday or Friday, and $80 for Saturday. Your ScapeCon 1-day badge includes all your gaming for that day, all three meals, and the three door-prize alt-arts (along with any other prizes you win). Note that it does not include a ScapeCon II t-shirt; you can purchase one (ordered ahead of time) for $25.

6. A reminder that if you pay your first ($200) deposit by March 5th, you'll receive three (extra) exclusive alt-arts.

Just as a heads up. If you want to minimize tax headaches for OEAO and company, include in the memo REIMBURSEMENT FOR SCAPECON or something to that effect. Some new tax laws went into effect recently. I know OEAO has told me that they're probably going to be fine, but the paper trail can't hurt.

Reminder that the deadline for the $200 first deposit is in two weeks (for the three early sign-up cards). Hope to see you all there!

We are now one week away from the early sign-up first deposit due date. Now seems like a good time to spoil the three championships.

Reverse the Whip has been the format of choice for the championship since GenCon 2011. A lot of people still really enjoy it, and we believe that it continues to do an excellent job of encouraging unique and diverse armies and rewarding overall game sense and skill. As such, the ScapeCon Championship will once again be Reverse the Whip. The Swiss rounds will be Friday afternoon, and the Cut will be on Saturday.

General Wars has served as a de facto Classic Cheese championship since the Championship/Main Event switched over to Reverse the Whip. This year, General Wars has officially been promoted. The General Wars Championship will be 4 rounds of Swiss (on Saturday afternoon), with a cut to the best of each general (Saturday evening). This will be a Top 6, so the top two players will have byes in the first round of the cut. I know it's not ideal, but for this year, if multiple people have the same record for a general, one will randomly be decided to play in the cut. After this year, we'll have a better sense of the timing, and can potentially add another round (if needed).

VC has yet to have a really large presence in Indy, and we aren't sure how quickly that will change. However, we feel comfortable giving VC their own premier event. The VCheese Championship will take place Thursday afternoon and evening. It will be 4 rounds of Swiss, followed by a cut to all 3-1s and better.

No one should feel pressured to play in all, or even one, of these. There will be at least one side event running alongside each one.

I have a +1 that might be coming with me...put him down as a Maybe for now...he likely won't be able to pay though until closer to the deadline.

Also I believe @Scaperedude should be on the maybe list...I know he was planning on trying to make it out.
