Re: All-Heroscape Mega-Tournament - 2018 to 2020
We are getting close! The next two groups decided to do a four-way single battle instead of individual match-ups. Points reflect the amount remaining as each army was eliminated. Essentially this resulted in three battles per team, points scored reflected differential between those remaining at the time of elimination.
No pics, no reports. We were too busy having fun. Congrats to @asandygraves for crushing everyone in the first four-way battle and to @Longy418 for squeaking by in a close one against a couple of others in the second battle, brilliantly played. GingaNinja, Slothman, and Nomad still had fun playing. Re: All-Heroscape Mega-Tournament - 2018 to 2020
Group Z3 - January 4, 2020
Five of us gathered for a rather lengthy day of open play. Some were able to take four armies through three match-ups, others just one army. Those young ones just don't want to take a break! @obfuscatedhippo and his Hrognak army went 3-0 as did Zachary's Pelloth army (we were just as stunned as you are). Congrats to Joseph for plowing through 12 battles in 8 hours (5-7 overall). James and Nomad could only handle 9 battles combined in 8 hours (3-6 in tandem). Again, no pics and no reports. To much food prep, map swapping, conversation, and NFL playoffs to watch. And yes, the armies were starting to get a little funky as we were down to getting those last unchosen few and new releases from SoV and C3V a chance on the battlefield. Re: All-Heroscape Mega-Tournament - 2018 to 2020
Thanks for taking a look.
Here are the last two groups in the tournament. Phew - we made it! Every unit in Heroscape Classic, SoV, C3V, and NWHC made it on the battlefield for at least three games. Eleven squads of the Fyorlag Spiders were included in armies, the most of any unit. Isamu was second with 10 armies. Hoplitron, Arrow Gruts, Barbary Corsairs, and Capuan Gladiators were selected nine times each. The overall standings for group play are contained in the second post of this thread. The top 32 armies will earn a first round bye in the single-elimination Big Dance. The next 64 armies will face off in head-to-head contests. I will get the match-ups posted soon and then let the fun begin. More detailed reports will be provided. Re: All-Heroscape Mega-Tournament - 2018 to 2020
All battles in this round were between Nomad and Longy 418.
BLEAKWOODE REGIONAL Round 1 - Battle 1 @ Road to Avernus Dupuis' Phantoms: Phantom Knights x3, Sir Dupuis, Mallekim = 470 (#94, 1-2 -147) Azurite's Armocs: Armoc Vipers x2, Azurite Warlord, Kyssandra, Ellesar = 450 (#35, 2-1 +328 ) The Vipers weren't rolling snake-eyes in this battle! January 24, 2020. Dupuis got off only one big attack, rolling mostly shields, as Azurite and the Armocs pinned him down just outside his start zone. Azurite eventually fell to the Phantom Knights, but Kyssandra and the Armocs were rolling hot with the attacks, cruising to victory with 249 points remaining on the battlefield. The Phantoms came in as a big underdog, so no upset here. #35 Azurite’s Armocs will take on #30 Kozil’s Spiders in the next round. Round 1 - Battle 2 @ Invasion Taelord's Knights: Taelord the Kyrie Warrior, Death Knights of Valkrill x3, Skull Demon, Dumutef Guard = 450 (#67, 2-1 -78 ) Shurrak's Fire: Obsidian Wyldfire x3, Shurrak, Eravan Sunshadow = 450 (#62, 2-1 -8 ) When does a dumutef take out a fire giant? 3-4 skulls every attack and 3-4 shields every defense Taelord boosting some attacks ... February 19, 2020. Two evenly matched armies squared off in this one. Shurrak fell early as the MVP Dumutef Guard rolled skulls when attacking and shields when defending to take down the giant and a few Wyldfire before falling. This is the best a Dumutef has ever played in any game I’ve witnessed. As the game progressed, the Death Knights were getting +2 attack adjacent to the Skull Demon and within Taelord’s aura. Taelord and friends won going away with 245 points left in a full-life Taelord, full-life Skull Demon, and a squad of Death Knights. Taelord’s army advances to take on #3 ranked Le-Orex’s Hounds in round 2 of the Bleakwoode regional. Round 1 - Battle 3 @ Invasion Bahadur's Pack: Varkaanan Swiftfangs, Varkaanan Quickblades, Bahadur, Manauvi, Sylvan Animae = 450 (#83, 1-2 -67) Runa's Minions: Minions of Utgar x3, Runa = 450 (#46, 2-1 +268 ) The Wolf Pack look intimidating early on Another Minion takes it in the back Going for the kill could backfire Let's finish this! February 19, 2020. Bahadur, Manauvi, and the Varkaanan’s dominated the early game, quickly taking control of the center of the map and taking out a couple of Minions. But then the momentum of the battle changed hands as Manauvi went in to attack a couple of Minions, failing on both counts. The Minions took out Manauvi in a single turn and then pummeled Bahadur in the same round with doubled skull rolls. What looked like a win for the Wolfpack turned into a drubbing by the forces of Utgar. Runa didn’t need to take a turn as the Minions had 267 points left on the map. Runa’s Minions move on to battle with #19 Kooko’s Teeth next. Round 1 - Battle 4 @ Invasion Cyprien's Skeletons: Skeletons of Annellintia x2, Cyprien Esenwein, Sonya Esenwein, Dumutef Guard, Marcu Esenwein = 450 (#78, 1-2 -1) Kyrllin's Lizards: Greenscale Warriors x3, Raezza, Kyrllin = 450 (#51, 2-1 +205) Kyrllin, "You shall not pass!" Poor Skeletons. Raezza is going on a rampage! February 19, 2020. Kyrllin posted up on one-high spot on the road to the right of the hive to cut off all traffic coming his way. Raezza and the Greenscales attacked to the left, taking down skeletons. Cyprien flew in to attack, but couldn’t make headway against team Ullar. The poor vampire fell without inflicting much damage. The route was on. Raezza and the Lizardfolk went on a rampage to obliterate the rest of Utgar’s forces in quick fashion. Only one Greenscale perished and Raezza suffered four wounds to garner an impressive 343 point margin. Kyrllin’s Lizards will advance to do battle with #14 Laglor’s Gorillas in the next round of the Bleakwoode Regional. The full bracket for the single-elimination tournament is in Post #2 of this thread. |

Re: All-Heroscape Mega-Tournament - 2018 to 2020
Here are the results of round 2 of the Bleakwoode Regional.
Following the army, the ranking, W-L record, and point differential from group play is listed (and round 1 battles for the Bleakwoode Regional). Maps and NWHC figures are linked. BLEAKWOODE REGIONAL Round 2 - Battle 5 @ Invasion Azurite's Armocs: Armoc Vipers x2, Azurite Warlord, Kyssandra, Ellesar = 450 (#35, 3-1 +577) Kozil's Spiders: Kozil, Fyorlag Spiders x3, Tearik Drako, Wyvern = 450 (#30, 2-1 +467) The Viper Queen battles the Predators January 24, 2020. Team Snakes went after the easy prey of eight-legged figures early to minimize the number of attacks. Slowly, Kyssandra and the Armocs wore down the predators - first Tearik, then the Wyvern, and the Kozil. Only a single spider that was hiding in the start zone remained to die at the hands of the Armocs. Only 89 points remained in two Armocs and a 1-life Venoc Warlord as the Snakes move on to round 3. Round 2 - Battle 6 @ Invasion Taelord's Knights: Taelord the Kyrie Warrior, Death Knights of Valkrill x3, Skull Demon, Dumutef Guard = 450 (#67, 2-1 -78 ) Le-Orex's Hounds: Marrden Hounds x4, Le-Orex = 450 (#3, 3-0 +732) The Dumutef wasn't so tough in this one Le-Orex pummels the Skull Demon with four skulls against four skulls on defense - Ouch! The Hounds take out Taelord to end it February 19, 2020. Taelord and his Death Knights fought to the bitter end, but couldn't manage the upset. It was a close battle, but when the Skull Demon fell in a single blow, the tide turned and Taelord was deflated. Le-Orex finished with one-life remaining and four Hounds were still charging about the map for a total of 138 points remaining. Round 2 - Battle 7 @ Ascension Runa's Minions: Minions of Utgar x3, Runa = 450 (#46, 3-1 +535) Kooko's Teeth: Teeth of the Makwa x3, Maltis Tez, Brave Arrow, Kira Jax, Kooko-Makwa (NWHC playtest) = 445 (#19, 3-0 +411) Minions go after Brave Arrow, and then Kooko-makwa comes in for the kill Runa is forced to play as the Minions were decimated Runa hits with a 20 to kill the full-life Maltis Tez! February 23, 2020. This was probably one of the most thrilling Heroscape games that I've been a part of. The Teeth of Makwa and Brave Arrow cleaned the map early of all but two of the Minions in what appeared to be a blowout. The big Owl-Bear come out to clean-up but failed his attack. Two Minions finally rolled all skulls in two attacks to take out Kooko-mawka in one turn. Runa's army was still on the defensive and managed to hang on for a few more rounds. After the last two Minions finally fell, Runa was down to her last life against a full-life Maltis Tez and three Teeth. Then the unthinkable - Runa spun a 20 for the Helm of Mitonsoul to kill Maltis! The Teeth could not roll a skull in numerous attacks as Runa was able to chase down and kill the last of the tribe. We giggled, shook hands, and commented that this had been one fun game. Runa's Minions pulled off the stunning upset and move on to the next round. Round 2 - Battle 8 @ Invasion Kyrllin's Lizards: Greenscale Warriors x3, Raezza, Kyrllin = 450 (#51, 3-1 +548 ) Laglor's Gorillas: Gorillitroopers x2, Laglor, Kursus, Josie Whistlestop = 445 (#14, 3-0 +600) The #14 ranked 6-figure army prepares for battle The Gorilla's crushed the invincible Kyrllin with big attacks February 19, 2020. The Lizards came in to the battle with a crushing victory in the first round in which they appeared to be invincible. Team Laglor decided not to attack Raezza early in fear of making the dragon angry. Lizards were picked off from range. Kyrllin was taken out with big attacks by the Gorillitroopers. Finally, Raezza fell to end it. The Lizard army did not roll well, but Laglor and friends look to be a force to reckon with in future rounds with 246 points left. Only one Trooper fell, Laglor had one-life left, and Josie didn't even get to take a turn. The full bracket for the single-elimination tournament is in Post #2 of this thread. |

Re: All-Heroscape Mega-Tournament - 2018 to 2020
Here are the first couple of battles from Jutanguard.
JUTANGUARD REGIONAL Round 1 - Battle 2 @ Ascension Drake's Redcoats: 10th Regiment of Foot x3, Marcus Decimus Gallus, Sgt. Drake Alexander v1 = 435 (#96, 1-2 -151) Tor-Kul-Na's Grubs: Marrden Nagrubs x3, Tor-Kul-Na, Wo-Sa-Ga = 445 (#33, 2-1 +355) Yikes ... Onward soldiers! Last figures standing ... January 24, 2020. Drake’s Redcoats, the last army to make the Big Dance, took on the highest ranked army in the first round, Tor-Kul-Na’s Grubs, in what turned out to be a tight match. Wo-Sa-Ga was able to slither in to put some wounds on Marcus and take out a few of the 10th Regiment, but some wait-and-fires and a big attack by Drake were able to take down the big serpent. The Wannock glyph played a roll in this battle, as Drake and the Grubs took turns being taken off the map as both armies battled for the glyph. Tor-Kul-Na entered the fray to take down Drake and the rest of the redcoats. All that was left was the big monster and Marcus at the end. MDG fought valiantly, but finally succumbed. Team Nagrubs won with a narrow and thrilling 73-point victory to move on to face #32 Galdy’s Knights in what promises to be a close, even battle. Round 2 - Battle 6 @ Ascension Tor-Kul-Na's Grubs: Marrden Nagrubs x3, Tor-Kul-Na, Wo-Sa-Ga = 445 (#33, 3-1 +428 ) Galdy's Knights: Death Knights x3, Sir Hawthorne, Skull Demon, Gald'Rabok = 445 (#32, 2-1 +420) January 24, 2020. The #33-ranked Grubs moved on to battle #32-ranked Gald’Rabok and his Death Knight army. It what was promised as a close battle turned out to be exactly that. Wo-Sa-Ga went after Galdy early, taking him out before he could use his blizzard attack or healing mojo to much effect. Play ensued fairly evenly. Sir Hawthorne gave Tor-Kul-Na some fits towards the end, but this battle ended the same way the previous one did, a thriller. Tor-Kul-Na was the only one left standing with two lives remaining. The Nagrubs move onto Round 3! Congrats to Longy418 for the two wins, and for Skylar getting them into the big dance almost two years ago. The full bracket for the single-elimination tournament is in Post #2 of this thread. |

Re: All-Heroscape Mega-Tournament - 2018 to 2020
We have battled a couple of times in the Braunglayde Regional. Here are the results.
BRAUNGLAYDE REGIONAL Round 1 - Battle 1 @ Road to Avernus Zard's Slashers: Goblin Slashers x2, Goblin Dog Rider x3, Zard Manstabber, Feral Troll, Runk Battlesinger = 450 (#93, 1-2 -141) 9000's Infrantry: Zettian Infantry x3, Deathwalker 9000, Mistress Isadora = 445 (#36, 2-1 +322) Poor little goblins January 25, 2020. Deathwalker went on a rampage early. Goblins poked and poked, but were nearly decimated before they finally got DW to whiff on defense. #93-ranked Zard's Slashers fell by 175 points. Mistress Isadora and a squad of infantry were still standing at the conclusion. Round 2 - Battle 5 @ Road to Avernus Guilty's Harquebus: Guilty McCreech, Ashigaru Harquebus x2, Kato Katsuro, Shiori, Ashigaru Yari = 450 (#29, 2-1 +468 ) 9000's Infrantry: Zettian Infantry x3, Deathwalker 9000, Mistress Isadora = 445 (#36, 3-1 +497) January 25, 2020. This battle promised to be a close one with the 36th and 29th ranked teams going at it. It wasn't close, not by a long shot. With 380 points remaining, 9000s Infantry were rolling hot and rolled to victory. This was over so fast, we didn't even get a chance to take a photo. DW9000 and friends move onto to the round of 32. Here are two of the Ostrivick Regional first round match-ups. The full bracket has been updated for the single-elimination BIG DANCE in Post #2 of this thread.
OSTRIVICK REGIONAL Round 1 - Battle 3 @ Ascension Eltahale's Yetis: Dzu-Teh x3, Eltahale, Raelin the Kyrie Warrior v1 = 445 (#86, 1-2 -100) Brunak's Fire: Obsidian Wyldfire x3, Brunak, Vadik Hollesturm, Marcu Esenwein = 450 (#43, 2-1 +304) I ain't afraid of no snowmen! Vadik and the Wyldfire! February 23, 2020. This one wasn’t pretty for the lower seed. Even though the Yeti’s were battling on a map full of Glaciers, Raelin and friends were not up to the task. Brunak charged in carrying Wyldifre with him. Brunak may not have killed many, but he took the brunt of most of the attacks Team Jandar could muster. When the snow cleared, Brunak’s Fire had a full-life Vadik, one squad of Wyldfire and Marcu, who didn’t get a turn, remaining for 200 points remaining. Congrats @obfuscatedhippo for a strategically precise match. Next up – the undefeated Quorik’s Raptors. Round 1 - Battle 4 @ Road to Avernus Augamo's Vindicators: Augamo, Talingul, Greater Ice Elemental, Vindicators of Vydar = 445 (#75, 1-2 +74) Talingul's Constructs: Talingul, Boreos, Iron Golem, Greater Ice Elemental = 445 (#54, 2-1 +167) Augamo puts the Golem on his backside! Greater Ice v. Greater Ice at the end February 23, 2020. The only two armies that featured Talingul met in the first round of the Big Dance (We proxied Kurrok for one Talingul). Augamo started off slow, pushing up Talingul into position and the Vindicators to height. The Constructs went for the kill early, charing Boreos and the Iron Golem down the road to try to take out the other Talingul. The battle was essentially over in the first round … Augamo charged out of the start zone and rolled 6 skulls on 6 dice to kill the Golem in one attack. Boreos was out of range of his commander to take a turn and eventually fell in round 2. Concession was offered at that point, but we played on. Augamo’s Vindicators trounced with all Vindicators (they didn’t move after the first round), one life left the for Ice Elemental, and a solitary wound on Talingul for 193 points. The 75th ranked army moves on to battle the #11 overall Urk’s Brutes. Good luck! |
