Ok, I have to ask....New Rant...

Does anyone open their rulebooks??? I see so many questions answered directly in the rulebooks. Yet members come on here and ask the questions anyway. We know they can read because they are typing the questions. Then, there are those who say they don't have the rulebook for that set. Yet, they post in the Official Rules forum, right where the thread for the Official Rules and Faqs PDF is stickied.

My question is....Why?! Why?! Why?! Why!?



Disclaimer: Apologies ahead of time for any I offend. Asking to clarify a rule is one thing, but down right not looking for the answer yourself in the book drives me nuts!!!

I guess I didn't realize that the game came with rules. I thought it was a coupon book or something and threw it away.

Isn't it obvious?

Most of the people who ask those types of questions talk internetz talk, and can't read normal english. The rule books are in plain english, therefore, they can't read them. So, they go onto the internet and ask (in internetz talk, of course) something that was plainly printed.

Actually, I think it would be more along the line that the answers aren't that clear to them for some reason, and they want a clarification.

I don't know... I think there was one guy that asked if you could move through swamp water or something. That's just laziness.

I had many questions after reading the rule book. I was able to find most everything I needed here without having to ask many questions. Why? Because people already asked the questions I needed answers for and I looked for them via the search engine.

Clarification is fine. But...when they ask simple questions and admit they don't have the book when they are posting right under the thread with the rulebooks in it or admit that they should go back and read the rules....geez!!!

Sometimes people just overlook simple stuff-when I first got FotA I read the rulebook cover-to-cover 3 times and still managed to miss that ladders only work for Small and Medium units.

Fortunately the Question Dump has become well used for most of these type of questions, significantly cutting back on the number of repetitive threads.

It's also possible they are wondering and can't download the rulebooks.. for example..

They are on an a phone and still want to be part of this community but can't download the rulebooks directly because the phone can't handle it and had some free time hoping someone would answer.

Laziness is always a possibility, but there are probably others

Edit: the Whole downloading the rulebooks has happened to me.. I haven't really asked any questions, but that's because I fear people like xraine haha .. jk. It's happened to me, but I didn't feel like I needed to know my answer right then and there.
