Re: The Pre-SoV Workshop
I like it. Seems like Fan the Hammer is a reference to something that I'm not getting, though (probably just my problem, so please enlighten me!).
At the risk of a spoiler, Grit is the name of a power of an upcoming C3V unit, so you might want to come up with something else there. Other than power name comments, I don't have much by way of critique. I think it is great to have a Lawman following Ullar, with a multi-attack, at 50 points, and female. We haven't seen any of those as of yet. EDIT: caps' post reminded me that Rebellious stuck out to me in a bad way on a first read over. Last edited by superfrog; August 25th, 2019 at 02:36 AM. |

Re: The Pre-SoV Workshop
Rebellious Lawman? She seems more like an Outlaw.

Re: The Pre-SoV Workshop
Rebellious does not mean someone is a criminal. That would mean that nearly every teenager in the world is a criminal, when only like 20% of them are.
Rebellious just means they don't always follow orders, and they like to stick it to the man. But being a good person at heart, they'll do what's right when it counts. She just needs a bio to explain all that. My Custom Designs.

Re: The Pre-SoV Workshop
Yeah, it’s more “chaotic good” than an outlaw. Here’s her bio.

Re: The Pre-SoV Workshop
Rebellious Lawman did give me pause initially as well (namely because it seems especially contradictory to have a lawman rebelling), but the bio does a decent job of explaining it. It doesn't come across very clearly just from the card itself, but then again, neither does Q10 being Merciful. I like her more as a Lawman than an Outlaw in any case, especially because an Outlaw doesn't immediately feel like something that Ullar would summon.
I'm a fan of Fan the Hammer, since it's a classic trope that we haven't seen represented at all yet (plus, it ties her thematically to the other Lawmen SAs while giving her a unique niche). In terms of practicality, I feel like it's unlikely to be very useful, but if that proves true from testing then I'd personally prefer her cost to drop over buffing the attack significantly. Re: The Pre-SoV Workshop
If it trips enough people up I could see a change to Reckless or Bold or something.
When I was testing Clayton I did play Kate a bunch, and FtH did seem useful, but I definitely agree that I’d rather drop her points than change the SA’s attack. |

Re: The Pre-SoV Workshop
Well met! Fanning the Hammer would be more useful (and thematic) if you could attack units adjacent to the initial target figure. |

Re: The Pre-SoV Workshop
Rebellious Lawman feels fine to me. My Mum and I have been watching quite a bit of Waking the Dead (a mystery series by the BBC - it's really good) recently, and 'lawman who plays fast and loose with the rules and doesn't really listen to anyone' is a pretty well established trope.

Re: The Pre-SoV Workshop
I don't like Rebellious for a Lawman. I see what you're going for thematically, but it still looks off on the card. There are other personalities you can pick that fit well enough and don't have that dissonance.
Otherwise I like the design. While I don't think it would be too hard to word it so that she can also attack adjacent figures, I think the power is better off without that. Less thematic, arguably (only arguably), but I like the simplicity. |

Re: The Pre-SoV Workshop
I've actually looked into female gunfighter of the past and they seem to either be performers (annie Oakley) or bandits. Not sure any had the backing of the law and I'm not sure if they would even be able to claim a bounty. doesn't bother me since heroscape is a version of earth's history not our history and current media supports the unsung women of history trope.
other than that I really like the card (I picked up a red head version of the min). I agree with dropping rebellious, a female lawman already covers that aspect of the design. |
