I'm not able to think of the word I'm looking for and hope someone can help. It's a word for being pushed, tested, or forcing you to learn something new, using your own skill set.

Thanks! Challenged was what I was looking for, I've been beating myself up all morning trying to think of it. I even used the online thesaurus with no luck. Knowing me I may have passed over it. That's a Monday for me.
