Spreading the Word

During early May while my fiancée and I began to move into our new apartment, I’ve noticed a small comic shop down the street from us. When I finally had free time I decided to pay a visit and see what they had to offer. Like any decent comic store, they sold comics. Other than that I noticed the sold a couple posters, comic based action figures, cards, and some miniatures. Noticing that there was no trace of anything ‘Scape, I asked the shopkeep if they ever carried any. While saying “no” and “sorry” he immediately began writing on a pad of paper. Apparently the pad of paper was a list of things the store needed. He told me to expect some HeroScape in by the next week.

Every now and then I would show up to check on the progress of the shipping. Every time I showed up, the shop keep was confused and wondered as to what was taking his supplier so long on his ‘Scape order. I didn’t mind too much, I always bought a couple comics before I left, so I never did leave empty handed.

Eventually I stopped going due to having to take care of other things, and I also didn’t have much money to spare. I couldn’t help but think that going to the store while not looking to buy would have been pretty rude on my part, so I simply stayed away.

Today I needed to go to the post office (which was right across the street from the comic store.) After my business at the post office I decided to pay a small visit to check up on things. The shopkeep, excited to see me the moment I set foot in the door, he immediately pointed to a shelf the contained three packs from wave 8 and two jungle sets. He began to tell me he got the stuff in last week, and that the response from other customers has been very positive. He assured me that since he finally got it in, its going to be much easier to get more in.

Nice! I really need to get back to my FLGS to see if they're stocking Scape now, and if not to give them a reason... me.

That's a wonderful story, Lank281.

The diminishing fonts were a problem for my old eyes, by the way.

Re: Spreading the Word

You've got a store hooked... Now you must continue to do the same to other stores.

Don't think of it as being outnumbered. Think of it as having a wide shot selection!

Re: Spreading the Word

And when you're done with Princeton, you can come over here to MA and start on the local comic shops... I know of a few comic shops all within 20-30 minutes of where I live and only 1 place carries Marvel Heroscape.

It takes a revolution to begin evolution...

Re: Spreading the Word

My gaming store carries the game but my comic shop does not. I may have to inquire with them about ordering the product.

I go there every Wednesday for Comic Day anyway so it would be cool to pick up some Scape on the same day.

Re: Spreading the Word

My local store in Anderson, IN just started carrying it and it is one of his best sellers the past two weeks. We're going to run events there every other Sunday. Business picking up for me and I hope for others.

Sorry about that. It's a bit difficult for me to explain the problem, but I went ahead and fixed it.
