INTENSE HEAT
Immediately after placing Order Markers for each round and before rolling for initiative, you must roll one combat die for each figure adjacent to within 2 spaces of Surtur, one at a time. If a skull is rolled, the figure receives 2 wounds. Figures with the Super Strength special power only receive 1 wound, and figures with the Lava Resistant special power are not affected by Intense Heat.
I'm looking to make the above changes to this guy. I had originally had d20 roll of 9+ for Twighlight Sword but had raised it to 12, but I think it needs to come back down to 9. I don't want to go too low as making it too easy to negate a figure's power for the round wouldn't be good either, but it should be decent enough that during the course of the round he should be able to hit it once. With a 12 + he could go a whole round without hitting it and while it is obviously better to hit it on the first turn, it still can be somewhat effective if it is hit on his third turn.

I also changed Intense Heat from only affecting adjacent figures to affecting figures up to 2 spaces away, but not restricting it to 2 clear sight spaces. This guy can be like 1,000 feet tall, so his flames should be able to reach way the heck up and penetrate through walls like Heat Wave's power. Also, what I think will be cool with this power is that it affect "figures" not just opponent's figures. So DO's will have to roll for damage, and no I don't care if you have to roll the die 10 times. He's an Event Hero and this could be cool.

That two spaces should also really help him with crowd control, which it looked like he needed from the results so far. Looks good!

C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Well besides crowd control, he needs it against that Shrink Ray bastard Brainiac who could get onto a castle wall and not be "adjacent" to be affected by Intense since Surter is borderline height of 9 or 10 and couldn't be adjacent to figures on the castle wall to have IH work against them. But considering his thematic height, I think IH should have extended range.

He is a little shorter than before after re-basing him, but he just barely goes over the line into 10th level, so that's good enough to keep him at 10 height.

C3G INITIAL PLAYTEST FEEDBACK FORM

NAME OF THE TEST UNIT SURTUR

- THEME TEST/ Check to see if there are any powers or stats on the test unit card that does not accurately reflect the theme or likeness of what the character would and could do. Also consider destructible objects, and whether or not this characters powers should affect them.
PASS

- MIRROR TEST/ Check to see if the unit were played against itself, if there would be any loops that would upset the balance of the Game.
PASS

- BONDING TEST/ Compare the unit card with all possible currently existing Bonding abilities to make sure there are no continual Bonding possibilities that do not stop appropriately or do not stop at all. This is to prevent loops in Bonding.
PASS

- SYNERGIES TEST/ Compare the unit card with all possible currently existing synergies to make sure there are no factors that could break the game by making any unit too powerful or too weak.
PASS –

- POWER CHECK/ Consider the test unit and all existing units and all glyphs to compare to and check for any powers that could be over amplified and break the game. Each power must define when it takes place, who or what it affects, and What are the stipulations on the power if there are any.
PASS

- FUN TEST/ Consider whether or not the design was fun to play.
PASS.

- FUN COMPETITIVE TEST/ Consider whether or not the design was fun to play against.
PASS-

- DRAFTING TEST/ Consider whether or not this design is worth drafting.
PASS –

- USAGE TEST/ Consider whether or not all of the powers on this card were used or at least usable.
PASS – .

- STRATEGY TEST/ Consider whether or not the design offers any real strategy or interesting tactics to the overall game. PASS -. He can wait until OM 3 and then charge to get within 2 spaces of opponent's figures to try to take out a bunch with Intense Heat, but opponent can try to force him to leave engagement with 1 figure to get close to a bunch of others. Twilight Sword can be used to put on wounds against hard to wound opponent's that have special defenses or to negate their power to foil their special attacks or defenses for the remainder of that round. Single huge attack is nice against mid-levels and HH's but overkill vs. squaddies.



Squad Test
- Does it pass, Yes or No? .YES
- What should be the unit's point value? 800
- Give a brief overview. . Agents won initiative for every round and allow them to get into good position, including 1 Kill Box attack for 4 wounds on him in R3 to get him to 14 wounds. He rolled poor defense in first two wounds to take 10 wounds pretty quick. Intense Heat only killed 1 Agent in 5 attempts. Kind of bad luck all around for Surtur this game.

- Give a brief overview. .This time Surtur did better with initiative rolls and was 4 of 6 with Intense Heat. He also rolled better defense.

- Does it pass, Yes or No? .YES
- What should be the unit's point value? 800
-Give a brief overview. .The GCW got 8 wounds on Surtur by the end of round 1, with a 4/0 attack being especially harmful. He was 2 for 3 against them with Intense Heat at the beginning of R2, but was at 12 wounds at the beginning of T6R2 when a GCW killed him with another 4/0 attack. So he wasn't able to use Intense Heat a second time. Gorilla City Warriors are nasty vs. HH's that only have a single attack. Sure he can take one out with Twilight Sword, but they still have too many big attacks for him to keep up with and it didn't help that he whiffed twice to take half of his wounds and the GCW rolled good attacks.

- Give a brief overview.. Surtur didn't bother trying to negate Hulk's powers as after they all engaged, Thor had most of the OM's, so Surtur used Twilight Sword to give 2 auto wounds. Intense Heat worked a couple times and put the last wound on Thor. Hulk finished Surtur with a massive 11 dice attack, but this one could have gone either way.

Units: . Surtur at 800 points vs. Thor (430) and Hasbro Hulk (370) for 800 points.

What should be the unit's point value? .800
Give a brief overview. .Intense Heat did some damage as did Twilight Sword. Good guys were too clustered.

What should be the unit's point value? .800
Give a brief overview. .Intense Heat did some damage but not enough toward the end. Twilight Sword failed last 4 times with rolls of 3, 3, 5, 6. So it's not that the 9+ is too high, he just rolled really crappy and it really hurt toward the end as he needed to negate LC's powers to get rid of his special defense and IF's activation. Surtur also whiffed defense rolls vs. 3, 3 and 5 skulls to take 11 of his wounds that way.

Units: .Surtur (800) vs. Iron Fist (260) Kraven (200) Luke Cage (190) and Moon Knight (150) for 800 points.

What should be the unit's point value? .800
Give a brief overview. Gave Surtur some ranged multi-attackers to help out vs. being swarmed by the GCW. Intense Heat put 2 wounds on Merlyn ( no SS) on 2 attempts. 1 wound on Grodd with 2 attempts. Missed Sinestro on 1 attempt and killed 2 of 3 GCW attempted against. Surtur used Twilight Sword to negate Sinestro's powers in R2 and also used TS to put 4 total wounds on Grodd. Surtur got killed by GCW on T3R4.

Units: .Surtur (800) Punisher (180) and Kree Scouts x 6 (240) for 1220 points Vs. Gorilla City Warriors x 4 (500) Sinestro (330) Gorilla Grodd (225) and Merlyn (160) for 1215 points.

Initial Test is done. I didn't bother with HH's as Brainiac is the only one at that cost. I did do 4 Squad tests and 4 Army tests with him though.
