Re: C3G Terrain Makers
I'll mull it over and see if we can't come to an accord in a bit. Con prep is my number one priority for a bit. Maybe chilling with T-Spinny and having some fun with terrain stuff in person will be the trick here. Sometimes we just need to have fun to remember what it's all about.
C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: C3G Terrain Makers
Thanks! I'll try to compile our answers tonight and see if there are some more or less "consensus" goals we can agree on and vote in as our mission statement here. That might provide us the compass we're lacking.
@quozl I don't suppose you want to take a look at those map maker procedures you listed and take a shot at tweaking them to be relevant to us here? Having a process fully formalized might help us a lot here. C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: C3G Terrain Makers
Something like this?
C3G Terrain Makers Goals 1) To have a collection of terrain that are designed for competition, and/or casual game play with Super Heroes. 2) To have each terrain be a collaborative effort from our C3G members while encouraging support, ideas, and effort from the entire Heroscapers.com community. C3G TERRAIN MAKERS PRODUCTION GUIDE
After at least 48 hours have passed, a proposition to move to the Playtesting Phase can be made.
After starting a terrain design thread, post a link here in this thread so that it can be posted on the front page. |

Re: C3G Terrain Makers
I'm going to take a hack at being more specific about the goals based on our poll results, but the process looks like a good start. Some questions:
1. No initial playtest? Just public ones? 2. Why the 48 hour breathing period instead of the 24 hour one we do with units? 3. Do we want to consider moving this work in sanctum and having our "releases" be in conjunction with other C3G releases in order to make these feel more integrated and a bigger deal? Or do we just want to do them and drop a link in the Welcome to C3G thread when we're done? C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: C3G Terrain Makers
I would assume the 48 hour bit is just because things have not been updated here and in the map area since we shortened that window. Also quozl might have forgotten the shorter window.

Re: C3G Terrain Makers
So how does that work for made terrain?
Made terrain, in my opinion, needs somebody else other than the designer to make the terrain using the tutorial provide. And what if then that terrain requires a set of rules or DO card to provide a special power to make it behave as required? I know @IAmBatman 's preference is something that can be bought & plonked on a map & it's ready to go. But not all terrain is going to be like that. In fact the majority that has come through the group thus far have been made stuff that include tutorials. Volcanos, shipping containers, bat computer, wooden pallets, under water scenery & others that I am not thinking of at the moment. How do we handle these? Do we have multiple different processes depending on what it is? Maybe it's a decision tree process that we need.

Re: C3G Terrain Makers
Even with the Small House/Apartment Complex/Bookshelf Skyscraper they're going to need alterations to be fully playable the way we want, so I am down with having made terrain specifications. I'm just more noting the limits of my interests/ability to help!
