Music from Starcraft always entertains me.
In my opinion, the protoss, and some of the zerg based tracks are the best. |

I tend to go with instrumental music when I role play or board game; using a lot of movie scores. A few random selections from my RPG/Gaming play list (a few of which have been mentioned already):
For more "fantasy" music, "300", "Conan the Barbarian" (hands down, one of the best scores Give it a listen), "Chronicles of Narnia", any of the "LOTR" soundtracks, "Gladiator", "Kingdom of Heaven" and "The Last Samurai." For a little more modern/post-modern, check out "Black Hawk Down", any of "The Matrix" scores, and "Sin City" offers some interesting sounds. For a little "darker" sounding music, check out the instrumental scores for "The Crow", "The Crow: City of Angels" (both done by the incomparable Graeme Revell) or "Dark City". Hope this helps. |

I typically have the tv on in the background. My opponents don't mind since I tend to get distracted if one of my teams is playing. :P
Conan the Barbarian is a great soundtrack and my original copy is a treasured item(especially considering how pricey they've become in recent years). I have taken to collecting some rather strange music from various sources to use for RPG nights or while I'm writing. There are some great anime soundtracks available that are good mood setters. Jin-Roh - the synth makes it feel futuristic, but it has a dreamlike quality which hints of adventure and mystery Midnight Syndicate - bought this at Gen Con a while back for super cheap and it has a nice mixed feel. It can range from haunting to aloof even on the same disk, so it's rather hit or miss. Glory Soundtrack - very haunting music at least to me(kid choirs have a weird quality to them when mixed with the right music) I think the main secret is to find something that doesn't have lyrics or at least keeps them to a minimum. This is not the path I thought. This is not the place I sought. This is not the dream I bought, just a fever of fate I've caught. |

I tend to put together some cd's when we get together, 80's alternative and rock, 90's rock... but almost always "Free Nelson Mandela" by the Specials.

I have either the Halo 2 soundtrack or the Final Fantasy Soundtrack from VI and VII.

I've started using In Flames and Amon Amarth.
"Trigger" is perfect for small heavy games. Not an anime fan. Just a Taiga fan. |
