Foam Question

Where do you get the white foam from? I like the green stuff, but for an idea I have I need something in a longer size so I dont have to glue them together. Thanks!

I appreciate the break in spending on HS pieces, but come on already!

Lowes-Home Depot- etc... carries 1/4 foam board that come in sheets of about 4x8 these sheets have a thin layer of paper on one side you will need to peel of but removal is very easy, its almost like sticker. This board is perfect for any type of foam terrain forming, and can be stacked up to make thicker foam pieces.

Here is a link to what im talking about, this product is used alot in warhammer terrain making.

Hobby lobby and Craft stores carry a large selection of a hard white styro-foam that might suit your needs as well. Ranging from thick rectangle blocks to spheres. These are pretty ridged though, where as the other above is a softer foam.

I thought it was the same stuff we used at a job I had where we made refrigerated cabinets. It comes in thicker slabs as well.. I definitely know the stuff..

There are really thick pink styro sheets available at Home Depot, but they're in the size for a sheet of sheetrock.

I can't see my paying $50 for something 100x the size of what I need.

Have you guys found similar things at Michael's?

Oh, there's also that cheap green florist foam. It's very soft, so it needs to be coated in plaster.

I use the green foam now. The pink foam is $50? Thats crazy. The white foam at Lowes is much cheaper for teh same size. At that size you will have more than you need, but its only a few dollars more than the green foam.

I dunno, you can get 4x8 sheets of 3/4" foam for around $10.50

The thick stuff, like 4" thickness is the expensive kind. Of course, with that, you can carve out large rocks and mountainsides.

Where do you get the thick stuff?

Also on a side note, I like the properties of the green foam better. I bought some of the sheets of white foam last night and I like the thickness for buildings, but trying to detail the foam itself is not the same as the green foam. Its messy, but that I can live with. Any tips for cutting and detailing the white foam?

DarkSpade Woo who?
Go to home depot. You can get the pink insulation foam from 1/4 inch to 4 inches. Comes in 4x8 sheets.
