Well, for one who would lead the project? While I would be interested in taking part in the project, I know I'm too busy to lead, plus I really don't have enough of that kind of experience. I think someone who was previously involved in the project would make the best choice-- wait, I'm getting too far ahead of myself here. I need to stay focused.

Is anybody interested in a re-boot?

I would be interested in seeing a re-boot. I'm to busy right now to lead it, but I would be happy to do an article then and again.

Alright, fella's, I will lead the project until it is completely re-booted, and then, if everything runs smoothly here at home, I will continue to lead (unless you'd rather have someone else do it, which is okay, BTW) however, if I find I don't have time I will then hand the lead over to any interested persons.

Any objections to this?

Thanks for having confidence in me, Heroscaper Guy! But I want you guys to have a good experience with the new Codex, and often enough, I feel that I don't do as good a job as others, so I want you guys to be the judge on who leads and who follows.

Heroscaper Guy is not the one who would give you dispensation to do this, JS.

How many articles will you need? How many pieces of art? Who will write the articles? Who will create the art? Who will edit, who will produce, who will assemble the issue into a completed project?

I realise Heroscaper Guy doesn't have the right to do so, but he was at least saying he had confidence in my ability and for that I was thanking him.

1) You are a nice person, and whether in a debate, or just around the site, you have always been kind to me.

2) As to the "higher ups", I did try and contact Atmospro a while back, and received no reply, now I've been trying to see if LordRaidor will lead the project. (This may be a selfish way of going about it, I'm not sure)

3) As to articles andart and stuff, well, there are many good writers and artists on HSer's.

Does this comply with what you are saying? Or do am I completely missing something?

BTW, your last paragraph, that is exactly what I've been trying to say, we need somebody more capable than me to run the project, I'm just not sure if anybody (especially those with the proper experience) would want that under taking.

It's a matter of organization... We tried to do this at the french forum: not enought organization, project abandoned.

You need a lot of people to help you, and as DS said, take your time to finalize each article.

A good idea should be to give it another name than Codex, for exemple, "Valhalla News", "The DailyScape" ...

3) Find someone who is better/smarter/more experienced than me.

4) This one is questionable, and I would like to hear from D_S especially on this one. Even if we're changing the name, would it still be a good idea to ask a 'higher up" if we can start this project?

I'm not, D_S, but I'd say, if you're planning on continuing using the codex name, it would be courteous to ask those who put them out before about that first. Even if not reusing the name, it would be a good idea to PM those formerly involved asking A) if they're still interested/have time/etc in the project to help out, and B) even if not, if they any tips, resources, advice they can pass along to you in your efforts.

Secondly, I think I can definitively answer that no, you don't need a "higher up" to approve such a project.

Glad you answered, Xorlof, your two cents is always welcome.

I have already complied with "A"& sorta "B", with but one of the previous Codex member....so I guess I have some PMs to send.

And lastly, if the project does go through, I would like to be involved in it. I just feel leading isn't for me, and that someone with more experience should handle it, and that I should follow.

It may be your ultimate goal is to resurrect the Codex under its own name. That's fine, and laudable, and I don't want to discourage you. It would be a long process, and would be the product of many people working together.

No, that's not what I was saying. If your long term goal is to bring the Codex back under that name, fine.

But for *now*, as you are really just at the very beginning of thinking about laying the groundwork for that lofty goal, I'm going to humbly suggest you adopt a more moderate short term goal.

Specifically, you say you want to be involved. I'm assuming that means as a writer, and you want to be a writer than the very best thing you can do is write. Make it regular, and make it interesting both to you and to your audience.

Fiction? Write Bios.

Humor? How about a little Q&A with the Ogre Pulverizer?

Critical? Dig out some of the official literature of the game and assemble it into pictures of how the Marro might reproduce or something, basing your argument on things you might learn from official bios or whatever.

Strategy? If you've got the chops, go for it.

The most important thing is to make sure it is *interesting*. Not just for your audience, but for you, because if it's a chore you will likely lose interest.

Do it once, do it again, do it again. See how you like it. There are a few good writers doing fan fiction on this site; swap stories with them, if fiction is your thing (apologies if you're doing that already, I didn't look).

If you're doing something repetitive (Once every two weeks a new set of high quality photos, or once a month a new humorous short story about Eldgrim's adventures in Valhalla, or whatever), give it a name that will be completely your own. You will come up with a name for yourself (The War Journals of Eldgrim the Tall).

Nope. Never said that. I'm just saying you'll need a lot of people, as Daniel Loche said, and everybody will have a particular role. I wouldn't presume to guess what your role might be, one day.

Why don't you think about what you would *like* your role to be, though, and work on it as part of Phase 1. Where I'm suggesting you write, but you can/should work on art, if you'd rather, or whatever.

If you're writing the serialized War Journals of Eldgrim the Tall then I don't think you have to ask anybody anything. If you enjoy it and you think you might be building a following then have some talks with other writers and an artist or two. But first you have to establish that you're comfortable doing the part you think you want to do.

One of the great dramatists of them all, Stephen Sondheim, reminded us of this important fact of life in his brilliant Into the Woods:

You know what you want to wish for. Now spend some time doing a little bridge building and soul searching by creating just one small part of it, and see how that goes.
