Comic Event: Superman At 75
COMIC EVENT: SUPERMAN AT 75
Last Sunday here in NYC at the Jewish Center For History, I attended "Superman At 75" a presentation and panel discussion with birthday cake and a free book. The great book is a complete history: Superman: The High Flying History of American's Most Enduring Hero by Larry Tye. Its a great volume, and worth the price for the amazing bibliography alone. The author is a great guy who made the main presentation. Other panel member included Jim Shooter, Jenette Kahn, David Weiss, Nicky Wheeler-Nicholson Brown, and Samuel Norich. There were more heavy hitters from the comic world in the audience. Based on information I got from the book, I've purchased and am now watching the Columbia Pictures 1952 movie serial Blackhawk: Fearless Champion of Freedom, starring Kirk Alyn--the first live action Superman!
