Changes from 1.0:

Iris’s bonding is not tied to the Flash name anymore. I think Arrowverse Barry has enough mechanical synergy with Iris that there doesn’t need to be a hard Flash callout on the bonding. I went with a factional recruitment thing (tying that to the Flash name) as that was a fairly clean way to include Metas and Speedsters, while not leaving out the human Flash Family members.

Speed Beacon now has a direct Barry Allen callout like Bulma’s ability, giving Barry a slight bonus if he’s the one protecting Iris. It’s not at all necessary and it is a power up but it felt like fun theme.

I'm planning to run some sanity tests on the whole Team Flash mini-faction once Cisco's thread starts up.

NAME OF THE PLAYTEST UNIT: Arrowverse Team Flash

Units: Iris West, Vibe, Caitlin Snow, Flash CW Barry, XS, Impulse (990) VS Nightwing, Raven, Starfire, Cyborg, Bunker (990)

Spoiler Alert!

Vibe gets everyone to move up quickly and the Speedsters claim height. This is a unique Speedster army with a good amount of range. The Titans get a couple wounds onto Barry, but then Frost + Barry kill Raven. Frost turns back into Caitlin to try and heal Barry.

Titans attack Caitlin, forcing her back into Frost. Titans wound Frost and XS. Frost and Barry put 2 wounds on Cyborg. Cyborg takes a swipe to wound Impulse and Iris without targeting her. Impulse takes out Cyborg. XS wounds herself to put 3 wounds on Starfire. Starfire takes out XS. Impulse takes out Starfire.

Titans take out Impulse. Frost wounds Bunker. Nightwing takes out Iris thanks to his special attack. Frost turns into Caitlin to heal.

Titans burn through their brick markers and wound Vibe, while Forcing Vibe to use Quick Thinking to save Barry.

Nightwing kills Vibe and dukes it out with Frost for a while, but Frost takes the win.


Who won? List figures remaining in the winning army (include life remaining for heroes): Frost (0 wounds) wins.

Spoiler Alert!

Yellow and Blue put a couple wounds on Frost. Kid Flash and Jesse go after Yellow, bringing her to 4 wounds. Rangers take out Jesse. Frost and Kid Flash take out Pink. Rangers take out Frost. The first round was a real bloodbath.

Flash wounds Blue. Rangers wound Flash. Vibe and Kid Flash fail. Rangers would take out Vibe, but he uses Quick Thinking. Kid Flash and Flash take out Blue. Rangers bring Flash to 3 wounds.

Black Ranger wounds Vibe. Kid Flash takes out Yellow. Black Ranger takes out Iris with his axe. The Speedsters are crippled at this point, and manage a few wounds on the Rangers, but can’t do much else before falling.


Who won? List figures remaining in the winning army (include life remaining for heroes): Red Ranger (0 wounds), Black Ranger (3 wounds) wins.

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: Team Flash feels good. They’re a fun group with overall minimal changes but the tweaks in 2.0 really smoothed out the faction for me. Barry and Iris remain the centerpiece to the whole team so when one falls it really hurts. But taking down Iris with Barry alive is difficult, and you’ve got Caitlin to heal Barry and Vibe’s Quick Thinking to save Barry too. So it’s a tricky puzzle for the opponent to unravel and tricky as the Team Flash player to keep all that synergy working nicely together.
