Re: The Book of Cyrax (Public Playtesting)
Thanks for the tests! Looks like 1 more set at 220 should suffice.

May I close this chap? Hopefully I should be able to do it this weekend/early next week.

Re: The Book of Cyrax (Public Playtesting)
Please do, I would recommend some Ninja games since that is now what has been least tested.

Cyrax, Scorpion (Hanzo Hasashi), Karai, Elite League Assassins, 2x Hand Ninja (930 Points) vs. Master Splinter, Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo, Donatello (930 points) For the other test, I was kind of considering something with the first Ra's? I was wondering how well The Demon's Head could pair with Self-Destruct Sequence for a sacrifice play. Might throw Spidey into the enemy force for that one - I normally avoid testing with him because he's so swingy (no pun intended, honestly!), but he's pretty much the gold standard, IMO, for how effective the D20 power negation can be. |

Re: The Book of Cyrax (Public Playtesting)
I had success with sacrificial builds.

Re: The Book of Cyrax (Public Playtesting)
- Theme Test - Tentative Pass - I don't know the character, but he felt awesome.
- Mirror Test - Inconclusive - Who gets a destroyed Cyber-Bomb back if two Cyraxes are on the battlefield? Is it okay that one Cyrax dying immediately triggers the detonation of all Cyber-Bombs, including those laid by an enemy Cyrax? - Bonding Test - Pass - Ninja synergies seem fine for him. - Synergies Test - Pass - See above. - Power Check - Pass - The Energy Net and Cyber-Bombs are pretty scary, but not too much and pretty fun. - Fun Test - Definite Pass! - Playing with nets and dropping bombs is a blast, and that moment in the first game where there were already two bombs dropped when he died and everything went up in a pyrotechnic cataclysm was kind of glorious. - Fun Competitive Test - Definite Pass! - Oh, he'll be annoying at times, but there's also a certain enjoyable tension to fighting him, notably whenever a Cyber-Bomb drops. When is that damn thing going to detonate? Do I even have time to get away? Does the state of combat allow me to get away? Oh crap, did the bastard just net me? Brilliant. I'd hate to fight him with a low-life melee fighter, though. - Drafting Test - Definite Pass - Usage Test - Definite Pass - Strategy Test - Definite Pass - The nets, the bombs and even the self-destruct sequence make for a lot of interesting strategy, from both sides. Army Test 1 Map: Mayberry (no glyphs) Armies: Cyrax, Scorpion (Hanzo Hasashi), Karai, Elite League Assassins, 2x Hand Ninja (930 Points) vs. Master Splinter, Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo, Donatello (930 points)
Spoiler Alert!
Army Test 2 Map: Conflict Chernobyl (no glyphs) Armies; Ra’s al Ghul (vI), Cyrax, Bullseye, Penguin (vII), 3x Hand Ninja (990 points) vs. Luke Cage, Songbird, Spider-Man (C3G), Daredevil (vII), Mother Russia (980 points)
Spoiler Alert!
Thoughts On The Tested Unit's Cost, Balance, & Draftibility: I absolutely bloody love him and the only concerns I have are, surprisingly, in the Mirror Test section, which I normally barely bother with. Great job, chap! |

Re: The Book of Cyrax (Public Playtesting)
Looks like he’s fairly well balanced with these last 2 sets. I don’t have an answer on the mirror question.

Re: The Book of Cyrax (Public Playtesting)
As to who would get the destroyed Bombs, that would be a 20-sided die roll off to see which Cyrax's power activates first.
As to all the bombs going off when a Cyrax is destroyed, that's a bit troubling, but also a bit of a corner case. I could see it leading to some cheese where you destroy your own Cyrax to set off the bombs your opponent's Curax has placed. However, seeing as your opponent must also draft Cyrax in order for it to occur, I'm not sure that it is actually that problematic more of an interesting potential strategy |

Re: The Book of Cyrax (Public Playtesting)
Does this work?
MULTI-BOMBS Start the game with 2 Glyphs of Cyber-Bomb on this card. Before moving, you may place a Glyph of Cyber-Bomb from this card power-side up on any empty space within 4 spaces of Cyrax. After a Glyph of Cyber-Bomb from this card is destroyed, place it on this card. SELF-DESTRUCT SEQUENCE When this Cyrax is destroyed, each figure adjacent to this Cyrax receives 1 wound, and all of your Glyphs of Cyber-Bomb on the battlefield are immediately destroyed. Does that need some before destruction language because no one is adjacent to Cyrax if he is destroyed. |
