Re: Frostgrave, Halo Ground Command and other tabletop minis
Had a fun game of Star Wars Legion with Brian Mola on the 4th. We actually got through to the end, despite a slow start. There were 3 objective terrain pieces that you needed to fight for control of, the central building, the escape pod and the small building opposite corner from the escape pod.
I was a little too intimidated by the Airspeeder's initial placement and paid for it by not focusing forces down the middle. Ended up being too little too late, though there was plenty of attrition by the end. I really didn't use Palpatine to his full potential and it cost me the game I believe, not to mention that Brian had a good game plan and took max advantage if using Han and Chewbacca. Brian won 2-1. Fun game with lots of up and down moments and very cinematic feeling. I had Palpatine, 2 Imperial Guards with the extra trooper, 1 E-Web, 3 Stormtroopers (one with DLT and generic commander as leader, which is one neat thing about them. They can be played as a cheap commander or used in a squad taking up a regular trooper slot but becomes the leader and bumps their courage by 1 and helps other nearby units rally), and 1 Snowtrooper unit with extra regular trooper. Briand had, Han, Chewie, Wookie Warriors x2, Airspeeder, Rebel Troopers x3 with extra troopers and Z6, and 1 Fleet Trooper squad with extra guy. Re: Frostgrave, Halo Ground Command and other tabletop minis
Here are some pictures from my game last night. The quality isn't the best. I think I probably have jacked up my camera on my phone because I'm always doing mechanic work with it in my coveralls.
I didn't get too many pictures taken during the game because I was teaching 3 other people how to play and trying to keep it all straight myself while trying to play. By the time I had taken these pictures mine and my brothers stormtrooper units had been obliterated in the center by the enemy at rts. We had taken the sides though and were able to flank some of their units later. Re: Frostgrave, Halo Ground Command and other tabletop minis
Since I didn't have a lot of time to take many pics I set up all my units on a smaller board for a photo shoot.
I know I could have probably done better with the lighting but photography skills aren't my strongest talent. Keep in mind that these units are not in play, as they have too many troopers in all the squads to be game legal. All the terrain was either crafted or 3d printed by me, except the barricades. I also wanted to post a picture of my 3d printed token holders. I made one each for each faction. I plan on picking up the clone wars factions as well. The lids actually screw on. Its fantastic.

Re: Frostgrave, Halo Ground Command and other tabletop minis
I need to paint and base my crashed escape pod I 3d printed as well. Porkins I bet you would love this game. This game scratches the star wars itch very well.

Re: Frostgrave, Halo Ground Command and other tabletop minis
Thanks guys. After looking deeper into the rules reference book a few more times and going back through all the cards I noticed that we forgot to do tons of the abilities on the cards. Not to mention none of us did any standby actions, which would have been really cool. I think we were so exciting to be attacking that we missed so really cool stuff. The next game is going to be insane cool.

Re: Frostgrave, Halo Ground Command and other tabletop minis
I forgot some stuff I could do with Palpatine, as well as some upgrade cards on some units. We didn't have room on the table because Brian's table is smaller than mine, so we had all our cards on the kitchen island, so it was hard to remember stuff when not right in front of us.
I used the Standby action with the E-Web, and used it when Brian finished moving his Airspeeder into range. The E-Web has a Standby range of 1-3 vs the normal range of 1-2. Put lots of wounds on the Airspeeder with that shot and finished it off a little later with the green Imp Guards. That's the thing with this game, the basics are easy, but the unit and upgrade cards offer a lot more depth. If we can remember to use them Hand of fate is moving and the finger points to you ...Iron Maiden - The Wicker Man TUTORIAL FOR RE-BASING FIGURES 3hrs 43mins 32secs = 1242nd of 8808 overall - 1988 Honolulu Marathon |

Re: Frostgrave, Halo Ground Command and other tabletop minis
I just got the Priority Supplies set for Star Wars Legion last Saturday and just finished painting them.
They should also work well as scatter terrain in other games like Infinity and The Drowned Earth. 5 crates, 3 comms stations and 4 moisture vaporators Hand of fate is moving and the finger points to you ...Iron Maiden - The Wicker Man TUTORIAL FOR RE-BASING FIGURES 3hrs 43mins 32secs = 1242nd of 8808 overall - 1988 Honolulu Marathon |
