Scotland Yard
Does anybody else here besides me love this game? If you haven't played it, you should. It is the best "board game" that I've ever played.
I don't hate you because you're fat, you're fat because I hate you. |

One of my all-time favorite board games. I always got so nervous when I would have to reveal where Mr. X was. I love this game and I still own the same copy I had as a kid back in the eighties.
Thanks for the reminiscence.. "Chewie should move 6, lumbering or not. He's got long-ass legs"-

Same. This was one of my fav games growing up. And being heavy into role playing games, there were very few board games I would spend time playing. This was definitely one of them.
That said, if you're looking for something a bit deeper than Scotland Yard, I'd suggest checking out Fury of Dracula. A fun and beautiful game by Fantasy Flight. Though if you're only playing with more non-gamer types, you may be better off with just keeping with Scotland Yard. That said, thanks for the nostalgia. .:: .H3X.™ | aka, PushesPixels :: SotW 31 ::. It's a classic.
Interestingly enough, the original designer of Fury of Dracula (when it was published by GW in the 90s) designed several other games that were heavily influenced by German boardgames of the time. Curse of the Mummy's Tomb, for example. And he also did the infamous Chaos Marauders (a game so similar to the previously published Ogalla that lawyers were involved). So there's ample evidence available to draw the inference that the designer of Fury had seen and played Scotland Yard before he started work on Fury. FWIW, I reckon Scotland Yard is the better, more fun and more playable game. |

Both have their pros and cons. Yet both are great fun! And I didn't know that about the designer of the original. Interesting trivia! .:: .H3X.™ | aka, PushesPixels :: SotW 31 ::. "An out of print game is not unplayable. It is simply more treasured." |

Anyone remember the first Dungeons and Dragons board game, simply called Dungeon? When my wife and I moved into our house (older home), I never bothered to look into the water heater closet until about a year in. Previous owner had built a shelf up in the very top, and lo and behold - Dungeon, and a few other timeless games.
It was a nice surprise and a blast to play, seeing as I grew up a D&D freak. Thought I'd share since we were remembering.... BTW, has anyone played the recent game Descent: Journeys Into the Dark? "Chewie should move 6, lumbering or not. He's got long-ass legs"-
