Re: The Pre-SoV Workshop
Ah, I didn't realize that was intentional. My bad there. It looks like she can also no longer take turns with the dragon so that Order Markers would need to flip between them (disregarding the dismounting attack turn), correct?
That does run into some potential problems of what happens if the dragon dies while she's still on it (just leaving her on the destroyed figure's army card doesn't feel right), but I haven't considered leaving her off the board entirely for multiple turns as heavily as some of the other options yet. Re: The Pre-SoV Workshop
I'd prefer to not add too much text to the card if possible, but I do think that would be the route to go if I wanted to leave her on the dragon's Army Card.

Re: The Pre-SoV Workshop
Here is an old unit of mine that was passed up by the SoV because of the figure. They did not like the muscle-man physique for an Einar Kyrie. The main thing I'm looking for in terms of feedback is a viable figure to be used instead of the one shown. An alternate figure would need: 1. a projectile weapon 2. wings 3. a reasonable comparison of physique to the Einar Imperium and Kiova I'd like to see this unit join the canon as he really helps out the Einar Imperium to the point that they're a playable anti-meta unit. You get an attack off whenever you re-position Kiova, and Kiova is given enough longevity for the Einar Imperium to do some real damage before she's taken down. Kwazar as a unit by himself is very potent: Stealth Flying and range is scary, especially with Kiova giving him re-rolls on defense as the pair fly around. I'd like an feedback I can get, but the help I need most of all is a viable figure that fits the part. Thank you. Handle origin: I used to film comedy skits with my friends. I didn't want any cursing in them, so I made up new insults, like "dendrik". Then Sir Denrick came out, and the rest is history. |

Re: The Pre-SoV Workshop
Just so you know, there is a dedicated Figure Suggestion Thread that you can go to in order to see if anyone else can find a sculpt that fits what you're looking for. That area isn't really my expertise, though, so I'll leave sculpt-finding to someone else.
(It's a pity that this sculpt isn't suitable, because it would be nice to use the same squad that's already a little cannibalized by another SoV unit. The muscle-man physique doesn't really bother me too much (the Einar Imperium are somewhat muscly themselves), but it admittedly looks a little weird to see another Protector of Ullar that joined another general, so I can see why there were some complaints.) As for actual mechanics, I feel like Einar's Escort is two different powers. I think that it makes sense to separate the second effect (the one where he can absorb wounds) into its own power. Kiova plus him may seem a little scary on paper, but with 4 Move instead of 5 and only 4 range, I don't think he'll absolutely dominate against melee like Kaemon Awa can. I actually think that Einar's Escort could be a little stronger by carrying up to two Einar Kyries (to help a bit with positioning the Einar Imperium as well, which also matches their mobility theme), but they might not need it. I definitely think that it makes more sense to keep the EI surrounding him than Kiova, though (after she's in position). His ability to absorb wounds is absolutely life-saving for the Einar Imperium, so much so that I doubt I would ever want them to be separated for as long as possible. When you likely only have 8 figures, each of those extra lives that you can buy for your fragile attacking squad is vital. Proud Member of Platyfly!

Re: The Pre-SoV Workshop
Hm... A shout out to the SoV judges, would an Atlaga repaint be more acceptable than the Protector of Ullar repaint?

Re: The Pre-SoV Workshop
I doubt that any repaint would pass, much less a repaint of a rare figure.

I am also extremely particular about Kyrie. I would not be amenable to an Ullar kyrie with black wings being an Einar kyrie. One of my favorite little things about Heroscape is how each general had its own subrace of kyrie, each a winged human archtype but clearly different. (Note that Tyrian is an exception, an Ullar kyrie on loan to Jandar. Calibrax is also an exception, a traitor or something.) |

Re: The Pre-SoV Workshop
On a related note, would the SoV ever pass a repaint of a master set figure, like Ne-Gok-Sa? I have a custom in the pipeline that is a shadow clone of him that helps out the Grok Riders and a few other underused units.

Here's a list of repaints and where they came from: Elite Onyx Vipers: repaint of common squad. Master Woo: repaint of common squad figure. Nerak: repaint of common hero. Skahen: repaint of unique squad figure. Sam Brown: repaint of common squad figure. Hawthorne: repaint of common squad figure. Quasatch Hunters: repaint of common squad. Granite Guardians: repaint of common squad. Tyrian (SoV): repaint of common squad figure. It's also worth noting that a figure using a "repaint" of a Warforged Soldier (the original D&D sculpt) has been reviewed by the SoV, and the figure used wasn't a sticking point. So. I think most repaints are fair game, but I'd stay away from unique hero repaints. |

Re: The Pre-SoV Workshop
I agree that a repainted Ne-Gok-Sa would look extremely out of place. I don't know the planned backstory, but he's pretty iconic to the first set to me, and seeing two on the field would be peculiar. I could see getting a "Ne-Gok-Sa 2.0" like how we got alternate versions of Raelin and Drake, but I doubt that'd match the theme that you're going for and it would be difficult to distinguish them enough with a repaint.
I would think that a Marro Warrior repaint would have a significantly easier time passing muster, since they're still cheap and plentiful, but the Marro are in a bit of a weird spot where one of their main traits is specifically their color scheme. The boundaries of what can be a Marro have been understandably widened quite a bit by VC, but seeing a blue or black Marro Warrior would likely need compelling justification.
