I changed how Brilliant Evasion works so that there's a little more tension between the choice of keeping the X on him to protect himself, putting it on Negative Man, or using it for Doomsday Machine

Removed Misfit Adoption because Bast Boy kind of sucks in this Doom Patrol build since he's a real OM sucker, so maybe someone can do a V2 for Doom Patrol BB.

I made a slight change that I think better captures the theme of him being rebuilt by his teammates, plus gives him a little bit of Android synergy since he has a history as a Robo-rights lawyer.

How's this for Negative Man? it keeps the original idea intact, but fixes the one and done issue, and allows you to move the X around.

@laughing matter , we have been talking about the Doom Patrol a bit in one of our brainstorming sessions and wanted to get your (as well as any other public members) input. Since none of them have been designed yet, but some have good class fits we want for some other synergy, we think they would best be linked together via personality synergy instead of class. We just aren't sure what the best option would be for a personality they all could share. Any ideas anyone?

Do we have other Misfits? I think that Class could work, however I think that a Personality tie-in is still the way to go. Apathetic? Indifferent? Resigned? Reconciled? Aquiescent? Deferential? Long-suffering? Stoical?

The Doom Patrol has always been a Mental Health and disability allegory. It wasn't always as apparent, but that's mostly due to poor writing, but when done right, the Doom Patrol is a group therapy session. I was originally thinking Unstable, but that has a lot of weird, unthematic characters. Mostly villains. If you wanted a personality that conveyed that in a sensitive way you could go with something like Troubled, distressed, or dysfunctional.

Yeah, I thought about it and in order to be able to tie a Beast Boy II into both the Titan and Doom Patrol Factions, he should be able to be a Stoic Titan. Or Apathetic Titan. Or Resigned Titan... (You get where I am going.)

Actually, if you wanted to go with a personality, maladjusted would be a great fit. It conveys the mental health aspect, but it also captures the punk rock vibe that's been there since the Grant Morrison days. Arguably long before, but it was first and most visible in his run.

I'm still in favor of Misfit. I think Clayface and Harley Quinn would be great additions to the Doom Patrol, and if they were ever put in the book, nobody would question it. Plus you could have crazy Jane be insane, and you'd be getting some built-in synergy.

EDIT: Actually, you could always do both. You could have the chief command Maladjusted Misfits, and have field leader guys like Mento or Robotman have a less powerful power, like a Field Leader or Creature Command type thing. Then just have the weaker powers work with all Misfits.

Double Edit: all other Misfits only being Harley and Clayface.

Since Spidey let the cat out of the bag, this issue does pertain to a Changeling/Beast Boy II card I'm currently working on (hopefully coming to a public play testing thread near you!). I want him to play in both any future Doom Patrol armies as well as the established Teen Titans. Since the Titans are already made and released, his class is pretty much locked in as a Titan, which leaves his personality open for a Doom Patrol hook. Either that or someone on the Doom Patrol needs a power to recruit a Metahuman or Titan into the group. I was kind of leaning towards using the Troubled or Distressed personality based on your previous post.

I don't know BB from the Doom Patrol but was he troubled in that? I don't know if I've ever felt BB was troubled by anything. Could the Doom Patrol be pulled in by two hooks...

Umm, no I didn't. I literally said a Beast Boy II so that is could be read as hypothetical. I merely mentioned the desire for him to still be a Titan.

Oh well, seems like we will get a better plan in place if we aren't so cryptic and hopefully Changeling will be in public PTing soon enough. I'm only giving away the class and personality in the public, you'll have to wait to see how the new card will work.

I think a personality synergy would work, and if you do go that route, anything suggested before would work. Maladjusted is the most accurate for me. It conveys their struggle better than Troubled or Distressed, or whatever.

Certain characters have come to terms with their differences, Rebis (Morrison's Negative Man) is perfectly comfortable with their nature as two people combined into one entity. Coagula, a trans woman with the ability to liquefy and solidify things is totally cool with her powers, her gender, everything. Crazy Jane eventually comes to accept that she will likely live with her multiple personality disorder for the rest of her life, and has come into a working relationship with the other personalities in her head. Beast Boy, who has never seemed upset with who he is. You may have some depressives, like Robotman, but most of the Doom Patrol is fine with who they are. It's just that the rest of world that doesn't fit around them.

That's why Maladjusted is a perfect fit for the Doom Patrol. Also, it sounds cool!
