And cool idea for a scenario! C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Exactly! That's what I figured when I put together the numbers.

Re: The Book of Galactus - Design Phase
The only thing I might tweak there is make the two terrain piece tier slightly larger and the 1 terrain piece tier slightly smaller. 2-7 is one terrain piece and 8-17 is two terrain pieces.
This will make the power more consistant and will make him easier to cost. |

Re: The Book of Galactus - Design Phase
HERALD OF GALACTUS
At the start of the game, you may choose one Unique Hero on the battlefield to be Galactus' Herald. Before taking a turn with Galactus, you may take temporary control of his chosen Herald and immediately take a turn with it. At the end of that turn, control of the Herald returns to the player who previously controlled it. After taking a turn with Galactus' Herald, you may roll the 20-sided die. If you roll an 8 or higher, place Galactus adjacent to his Herald. When Galactus is placed with Herald of Galactus, he will not take any leaving engagement attacks. Galactus may not be moved by any other special power on any Army Card or glyph. DEVOURER OR WORLDS After taking a turn with Galactus, you must roll the 20-sided die. If you roll: · 1, Galactus receives one wound; · 2-10, choose any one unoccupied terrain piece, glyph, destructible object, or obstacle such as a ruin on the battlefield; · 11-16, choose any two unoccupied terrain pieces, glyphs, destructible objects, or obstacles such as ruins on the battlefield; or · 17 or higher, choose any four unoccupied terrain pieces, glyphs, destructible objects, or obstacles such as ruins on the battlefield. Immediately remove the chosen pieces from the battlefield, if possible. If all terrain pieces, glyphs, destructible objects, and obstacles on the battlefield are occupied, Galactus may choose occupied terrain pieces, glyphs, destructible objects, or obstacles instead, and destroy any figures occupying them. I just put these two powers on a card to test this amount of text and this text exceeded the maximum amount of text at the minimum size so unless we can cut some text here, the tiered option won't work. It is only hanging over the Super Strength symbol by one line. The words "any figures occupying them" are the only ones on that last line that runs over the Super Strength symbol. I'm no wizard at cutting text in powers but I feel like if we were able to word it in a way that didn't require us to state "terrain piece, glyph, destructible object, or obstacles such as ruins" in each bullet, that would save a good bit of text. Is the "such as ruins" part even necessary, if we just cut that from each reference, I think we would save enough text. Any help on cutting down the power text here would be great. We have to do at least a little bit to make it fit, but the more text we can cut, the larger the text can be on the card. I have no problem cramming as much onto this card as possible since both powers are very intuitive once you use them and this is GALACTUS, but if the text isn't needed, or can be worded better to say the same thing in fewer words, there is no reason not to. (I also fixed the punctuation of the listed bullets, adding commas after the rolls and putting semicolons at the end of the lines like our aesthetic is.) Re: The Book of Galactus - Design Phase
Thanks - can you try this? (updated D20 numbers also):
HERALD OF GALACTUS At the start of the game, you may choose one Unique Hero on the battlefield to be Galactus' Herald. If you roll: · 1, Galactus receives one wound; · 2-7, choose any one unoccupied terrain piece, glyph, destructible object, or obstacle such as a ruin on the battlefield; · 8-17, choose any two unoccupied terrain pieces, glyphs, destructible objects, or obstacles; or · 18 or higher, choose any four unoccupied terrain pieces, glyphs, destructible objects, or obstacles. Re: The Book of Galactus - Design Phase
Didn't help. There are lines with one word each on them now so that didn't reduce the number of rows any.
If you remove the wound tier (which really isn't gonna trigger enough to be worth having) and just make the 1 terrain piece tier 1-7, it fits at the minimum text size cause that gets rid of a whole line. |

Re: The Book of Galactus - Design Phase
Hmm ... I really like the wound, though. I'd almost rather go wound, 2 pieces, 4 pieces and maybe increase the chances of a wound slightly.

Re: The Book of Galactus - Design Phase
That looks really good! Fits well and I was able to increase the text size from 5.8 to 6. Which makes a surprisingly big difference.

Awesome. Well I'm definitely planning to go with that at the moment, then!

Re: The Book of Galactus - Design Phase
Just not having three bullets that said "choose X unoccupied terrain pieces, glyphs, destructible objects, or obstacles such as a ruin" made a huge difference.
Do we even need the "on the battlefield" part on the second bullet? Where else would you choose unoccupied terrain pieces, glyphs, destructible objects, or obstacles such as a ruin to remove them from the battlefield? |
